I don't know much about Sassanid coins, but that coin is amazing. I would certainly welcome it into my collection. Did someone offer to sell it to you or to buy it from you?
Well, an extreme rarity, if genuine. I don't see anything that immediately screams "fake" to me, but such an expensive rarity would normally be at a premier auction, or possibly privately traded between specialists in the series. I know @medoraman knows a lot about the Vahran II series, I'd like to hear his opinion.
I am not a fan of it unfortunately. The angles of the faces, the lack of any kind of detail on the Queen's head, (its supposed to be a wolf crown, and usually beautifully done), the crown on the prince that is supposed to be a hawk, etc. In that condition its a $6-8k if real. Unless someone could point me to the exact match for the coin in SNS, I would not wager its real. Sorry OP, just my opinion. CNG has sold quite a few over the years. Look at their sold coins, paying attention to the areas I highlight, and you tell me what you think. I only own silver examples, but if the coin were in silver I would not be interested.
Just following up. Surely I am not the "expert" in these. Anyone like @curtislclay , @Barry Murphy , or "real" experts have an opinion on the coin? I know you gentlemen are busy and get paid for your opinion but maybe you have a sec, or an underling that might be able to post an opinion.
