Obv: “la ilah illa/ allah wahdahu/ la sharika lahu/ al-ta’i billah/ farwan,” tamgha or ornament above. Rev: “lillah/ muhammad rasul/ allah mansur/ bin nuh/ isma’il/ farwan.” 18.5mm, 2.48g. Album 1601. </font></p><p><br /></p><p>Here is a much earlier "silk road coin" from what would later become the first Samanid capital:</p><p>[ATTACH=full]1375962[/ATTACH] </p><p><font size="3">Sogdia, Samarqand, AR "obol," 4th–5th c.
