2 francs 1948, aluminium, weight - 2,14 g., size - 26,95 mm, mintage - 300000 pcs. Engraver: Lucien Georges Bazor. Paris Mint. Single release.
I purchased this one years ago as part of the two coin set. Probably only a few dollars for both. If I actually found another that had actually seen circulation I would purchase it. These are the type of coins that I almost always see in uncirculated condition. A review of my collection would reveal that I really like to collect for historical purposes, not value and having this type of coin that actually saw use in commerce for a bit adds a type of value to me. Here is the second coin from that set.
Are those two pieces of dried/smoked fish at the bottom of the reverse? If so, that's gotta be a first.
In addition to the circulation aluminums there are also copper nickel essais and aluminum piedforts. The only complete set I'll probably ever have-- the French 4th republic overseas territory of SPM (here are the ones not posted yet).
