Back on Jan 21 I won this 1796 dollar in a Heritage Auction. Sent the check via USPS on Jan 25. Two weeks later check had not arrived, put a stop-payment on it and paid via CC. That 2.5% CC processing fee really hurts on a purchase this large. Anyway, by the time Heritage went to pull the coin and mail it they were in the middle of the Texas Polar Vortex, so that delayed things. They got it in the mail Feb 21 and it finally arrived on my doorstep on Feb 26. Five weeks! I'm just thankful it got here. Thanks for letting me kvetch. The coin is the BB-61 variety and I have included photos of the die markers for that most common die variety of the year. I keep 3-ring binders of all my attributed coins including photos and a die attribution sheet, shown. I only have one more dollar to complete my US Type Coin Dollar collection and that is the Flowing Hair. I'll be looking for a VF-20 to 25 example of that one. Can't have a Coin Talk Forum post without photos so here goes:
I used to think, I'll never have one of those. But I have several things I never said I would. So maybe I will too!
Thanks. I'm sure someday you will. Most of us, by the time we get to enjoy owning these objet d'art, we only have a short time to be their caretakers and then they become the possessor of a new someone.
