    coinman,

Some people are just plain weird when it comes to money. Cheap, maybe, if you want to call it that. I mean, look at the hassle this guy is going to put himself through over something that could so easily be settled. We're not talking about an amount of money that would put him out by any means.

People just get funny sometimes. Someone on another forum just purchased $350.00 worth of coral frags from me last week. This requires overnight shipping so I quoted $50.00 shipping (which is typical) on top of it and I said that if it goes over a bit, I would take it out of the cost. I was figuring on a 10 lb weight. We sent PM's back and forth, text messaged each other and had a couple long phone conversations leading up to the ship date.

Well, this is no small task on my end involving high $$ insulated boxes that I get for free, $6 worth of containers, saltwater, ice packs, a lot of packing material and tape. On top of it, I took off half a day of work to do this (and ship a couple other pieces). Then I bring the 2'x1'x16" box down to the post office and it ends up weighing 20 lbs!! Double what I anticipated. Overnight shipping ends up costing me $87.00!! And I've already lost $13.50 to paypal/ATM fees.

But, I didn't care. I mentioned to them that we'll see how everything ships and if you want, you're welcome to chip in a little extra for shipping if you're satisfied. Otherwise, I'm not going to worry about it. I'm more interested to see how well everything does.

In less than 24 hrs after me putting stuff in containers, the box is delievered to their door.

It's been a week and I haven't heard a peep back from this person. I've PM'd, sent text messages. Nothing. I don't know if they're mad about something, in the hospital or they just don't want to discuss the extra shipping. I don't know. But I'll probably never hear from them again. And to me, nothing went bad. This was a friendly person that I got along well with.

I hear you. Acceptance of personal checks is not in my options for a buyer any further. Nor will I expect that option as a buyer.

These really aren't normal times. Had a NSF check put down as a deposit/rent on a signed lease. Three days later they stopped payment. Even after we said we would help find a replacement party for the lease, but please return keys. Nope, had to rekey, buy new mailbox lock/key, etc. the check was for over $4000 on a business account. In AZ, a NSF can be sought after twice the amount $8000, but we just want the expenses until we re-lease. Unfortunately the lawyers will have to be involved now. Several of our renters ( teachers, college students, police) have asked to pay half on 1st and half on second week check.

Is it true PCGS is getting a gov. bailout to replace clunker coins to get them off the market?

How we deal with that in Lansing is to take off the front and rear door. Unless they have nothing in there, you get paid THAT DAY. Otherwise, after dark, they have no more possesions.

Good Idea, but then I would be out even more than that on the Appliances, counter tops, etc. that would disappear. Besides, they had only moved in a few boxes, which they moved out. I still have my health and mind?? so I am ahead in the game.

The laws won't let me take off doors or turn off the water or electric.
My local DA will help on NSF checks but on stop payment checks I have to file suit

    Why not?

Everyone else (but you & me) got a bailout.

Well here we are , August 10th, 2009. Mr. Fowler has not responded to the letter sent certified and registered, which he signed for. I once again attempted to contact him by telephone and e-mail today, it's evident he is purely ignoring this situation. Tomorrow morning, first thing, off goes his "bad check" to his local D.A.'s office for recovery or prosecution. I'll keep the thread updated as information is available. I'm disgusted.

    sad situation

Well, goodness, he signed for the letter....would have thought as clever as he thinks he is that he would know better than to sign for a letter like that....that shows how ignorant he is. Sorry to hear that this mess is still dragging on. Def let us know how this turns out. Take care.
