Stumbled upon this dollar roll hunting today. At first I thought it was just gunk on it. But as you can see I weighed it and noticed the weight was more than a little off. And then the reeding on it looked like 3 separate pieces. So I would definitely love to get some insight from the coin family. BTW I know it's difficult to see the coin well in the pictures, but it's the exact same trying to look at it.[emoji106] Sent from my Z981 using Tapatalk
But the thing is .. The abrasive top layer looks like just hardened grease, because with my loupe the coin underneath looks pretty good. Sent from my Z981 using Tapatalk
She was in a house fire :/ Figured it was PMD but the weight is what threw me off. Thanks everyone. Sent from my Z981 using Tapatalk
Have you noticed how many think they see serifs when none are present? Why should reeding be any different?
And the edge looks like three pieces because it IS three pieces. The Sac dollar is a clad coin same as the dime, quarter, and half except it is Manganese brass clad on pure copper instead of copper nickel clad on pure copper. The weight is a little out of spec, minimum weight should be 7.8, but the corrosion may account for that.
