My preference goes to the macedonian shield ! Very original collecting focus, and some outastanding specimens. Bravo ! Q
I think they're all pretty amazing, but I particularly like the T. Quinctius Flamininus, the Vespasian, and, perhaps most of all, the brown one from Roman Macedonia with Artemis on the obverse. I own no coins at all with Macedonian shields -- yet. I've wanted one for a while, and am simply waiting for the right one to come along. I'll know it when I see it, I think!
Makes ya wanna pinch the lil fellas cheeks... when you put it like that This is how fun these coins are and, as you well know, they were made in the time of and for him and the Diadochi (a word any hellenistic coin lover should be well used to).

Nice Macedonian shields all around! My favorite is the excellent Republican T Quinctius Flamininus denarius. I was your underbidder on this coin in AMCC2. To sweeten my loss, I bought this Macedonian shield denarius while waiting for another nice Flaminius to turn up: Roman Republic, moneyer: M. Caecilius Metellus, AR denarius, 127 BC, Rome mint. Obv: ROMA; head of Roma, helmeted, r.; before, X. Rev: M·METELLVS·Q·F; Macedonian shield decorated with elephant's head. 18mm, 3.83g. RRC 263/1a. Ex Hommel collection.
