    Hi All

I picked up a Russian Imperial silver coin - Empress Anna, one ruble 1730. Google searches leads me to believe that its a variation identified with "St Andrew's Chain" on the obverse side. Apparently it is "rare" so I am assuming its a fake. Can anyone assist?

The coin kinda looks suspicious, particularly the toning, and the smooth details of the hair!
Numista says the weight is 25.85g, also knowing the source of where you got this coin would be helpful.

Definitely fake straight from the People's Republic, get your money back if you can.

Fake... Too clean and the toning looks artificial

Hi - if its too good to be true then... I picked up the coin from an a general auction house (Lloyd's Auctions). No certificate with it just took a gamble.

Hi Jim - I like it too. Like all coins I collect, I have done a lot of hours researching the history of this coin. Fake or not, I now know a little bit about this period.

I'll keep it. Was in a mixed lot with Aussie coins so not out of pocket. PS - love your creativity..

The double eagle is a Byzantine motif originally. Many countries where Eastern Orthodox Christianity predominates (or predominated) have used it.
