Hi. my 4th edition Krause catalog Y#60 says the mintage is 191,000. grade/value F-$25.00 VF-$45.00 XF-$100.00 UNC.-$250.00 Krause values may differ from real life market values. what grade is your coin ? VF-XF ? very cool coin. I like the crown side.
This coin costs much more than 150 dollars. Even in such condition. I would say - about $200. Prices in Krause are absolutely incorrect. It is rather expensive coin in Russia. For example: this coin costs about $ 400 in Russia.
This coin used to be somewhat common until 10 years ago when prices of Russian coins literally exploded. The Romanov ruble was priced close to melt which is unthinkable today. Krause prices would have been what they were back then. At that time, a proof 1896 coronation ruble was around 1000 USD - 1500 USD which I somewhat regret not buying one. Mind you, when my budget was around 50 - 100 dollars per month, that was a lot of money back then. I consider lucky to even amass what I own right now. Most of these coins have the crowns worn out first followed by the Tsar's hair as these are the highest points. Mine has slightly better details but I didn't take good photos.
I was lucky enough to pick up a high end example before the prices exploded. Wish I had gotten one of the proofs as well
