Was wondering if something is wrong with these Denver minted dimes, one mint mark is bigger or Visa versa?
Changes in the mint marks are not errors but have evolved over the years just as there have been design changes to the same series of coins. Some changes were meant to make the design last longer in circulation or for aesthetics. The Buffalo nickel design was changed because the original design in 1913 lent itself to easy wear to the date. The Kennedy half hair was changed by request of Jaqueline Kennedy to improve the design to better show what she thought was closer to what John F Kennedy really looked like. The Standing Liberty quarter was changed because of the outcry over the exposed breasts.
