I recently purchased a Fugio on eBay.... before you all groan.... I did do a little research before I made the purchase. I read the whole Peter Rosa story and as many articles as I could find. I bought the coin assuming it was a reproduction. I paid about $40 ish for the coin. (cause I thought it was cool) Anywho, the seller only said they thought it was a 1850 restrike. The edge of the coin was stamp with the name "Becker". The coin looks amazing. I did have the coin tested for metal content. Results were 30% copper and 60% Lead with traces of tin and silver. (didn't pay for test as I work in a area with a metals lab) Going by PCGS Coin Facts, the coin should weigh 10.2 grams, mine weighs 10.4, Coin Facts also states the metal content as "Other" for this variety not copper.....so the plot thickens....HELP! Here are my pictures

This may be a trivial point, but what you have is not a coin.

60% lead? wash hands after handling and keep sealed in something. NEVER let children handle it.

Lead only dangerous if inhaled or ingested especially if as dust ie lead paint. You can handle lead bullets or roofing all you want is not absorbed thru skin from a solid form

Bill, I have to differ with you on this. You are correct that lead is not absorbed transcutaneously. However, I am aware of well documented cases of children who were seriously poisoned from handling civil war bullet collections, because they put their fingers in their mouths or handle food without hand washing all the time. Lead is very pernicious stuff.

You got me on that one never thought / heard of that. I had way to high of lead levels from year of sanding and scraping paint withou a mask so I'm well aware of the dangers. Ok if you handle don't put your fingers in your mouth!
