I'm a big fan of the Romanian coinage and prices have been escalating markedly in the last several years. The biggest gains of a hundred to two hundred fold have been in the BU later date issues (especially 1950 to 1966). These coins can be found in the US but they tend to be few and far between. Very nice circulated examples are much easier to find. The old coins are notoriously tough to find in Unc and some are tough in XF or AU.

The style looks quite, hmm, simple to me. As if the government had decided that they need a 10 bani coin, quick, no time for a fancy design, just make something. According to the Schön, by the way, the mintage was 35 million. No idea how many "survived" though ... Christian
