Not really, Trajan's reign lasted 19 years, Augustus's reign lasted 41/45 years depending on how you look at it. I wouldn't say Trajan's reign was peaceful, he waged wars in Dacia, and Parthia.

I think we have a winner in the « roman provincial. » category !

Yes I see what you mean. @gsimonel . I see that Theodosius II was co-Augustus at the age of 1. (How cute!) And Emperor from 408 when he was just age 7. I also see that by 421 AD (13 years later) he was in a war and then various wars and disputes thereafter. Perhaps it would have been more accurate if I had said that Trajan had the reign with the longest uninterrupted peaceful period? Now, I will have to go study and see if that is absolutely true. Thank you for bringing my misstatement (and sloppy grammar) to my attention. :sorry::)

You see??? What I read some time ago was not sufficient. And this is exactly why I will be going to do more! Thank you.

No way to avoid it any longer. Going to have to sit down and go through each and every ruler. Yes. I confess. I have been putting it off. Just not enough time, I told myself. Well, I am going to have to make time!

I'm not sure there is an answer to the most peaceful reign. It would involve a lot of interpretation and value judgements, plus a lot of information that may no longer be available to us.

I've heard many people claim Antoninus Pius had the most peaceful reign, but there were Germanic raids near the end of his reign.

I thought there were markings on hollow spades, I might be wrong.
