Ummm, it kinda looks the same as where I'm livin' ... *sigh* => great photos, coin-gang (I will visit ... some day)
I saw a show the other day about a town in manitoba with polar bears. I thought you. That Borealis photo is rather magical.
Nice pictures. If you have time, go to the National Roman Museum (the former baths of Diocletian) near the main train station. It used to have an interesting coin collection (material from the collection of Victor Emmanuel II of Savoy). guy
I was there two years ago. I had a fantastic time looking at the collection of coins. My wife on the other hand, well.......
Churchill is the ultimate/classic polar bear and beluga whale tourist destination (total small town, but good times for an overnight trip on the train to see the sights and "make-a-love" under the northern lights) ... I'm not quite that far north (Thompson) ... 3rd largest city in Manitoba, behind Winnipeg and Brandon (we're basically the Hub-of-the-North for all of the surrounding communities) => we're large enough to have a "real' hospital, a small college, a few malls, movie theatre, a few chain-restaurants, Safeway, Wal-Mart, etc .... horribly tiny compared to US city standards, but we're livin' large compared to the surrounding communities!! => we have bears, moose, wolves, lynx, fox, etc => but you've got to get to Churchill for the polar bears (they are the Kings of that tourism niche)
A professor at school years ago told us that someone made a video of the entire column, spiraling the camera all the way up to catch the entire "story".
There are some wonderful online resources and apps for exploring Trajan's column. Stop-motion video of how it may have been built, National Geographic iPad app for exploring the column A comprehensive website devoted to the column, including scene-by-scene images and more links here
