In any case blurry pics is a red flag. And even from blurry pics the style doesn't seem good at all Q
Kentucky, since you are new to this, I would suggest stop looking at eBay for ancient coin deals. Start at a place such as vcoins.com and look around for what interests you. Vcoins expect their member dealers to adhere to a code of ethics, as well as warrant any coins if they are fakes.
Agree with Alegandron. I've just got into ancients about 4 months ago @Kentucky & there's only a few dealers I feel comfortable with. I'm eyeballing a Camarina with the owl reverse. Don't really think it's going to go in my price range, but sure as hell gonna try to get it.
There are certain coins to avoid buying on eBay unless you really trust the seller. Owl coins are one of them due to their popularity.
Those are some bad pics! Before I saw the reverse, I thought it was an Alexander coin. I'd avoid this one, too.
Did anyone else bum around ebay when they were new? I did. I didn't buy from ancient websites or auctions for several years.
i still bum around ebay. i'm buying fewer and fewer coins from there now. for the coins i'm interested in now, i can usually find a comparable price to the ebay auctions elsewhere...but everyone now and then i still score a bargain bin winner on ebay.
I spent a year giving coins away on eBay. There are good sellers there still, but the market is so messed up there right now, sometimes, it's not too good to be true. But sometimes it is, and in the original coin here, yup.
David@PCC not all ebay sellers are bad I sell on ebay not coin usually but the bad ones kinda leave a bad taste & make it difficult for the honest ones. Theres a few sellers I deal with I know are good honest dealers.
