Indeed it is. Thankfully, a couple of smaller jars of cents that were put away in the 1980's was able to be rescued and preserved intact but this jar from 1974 was the gem of what was put away. To answer your question, with very few exceptions the answer is "no" as such coins are quite unlikely to not have been searched at some point by their very nature of what they are being sold or offered as. So when you buy rolls of "unsearched" Wheat cents isn't it peculiar that they are advertised as dating from 1909 - 1958? How is it possible that they would all be Wheats (and which often have a few Indians mixed in) unless they were put away in 1958 or before unless they've been filtered by someone? Let's say the coins were set aside in 1963 by someone who didn't care if they were saving Wheats or Memorial cents. Well, wouldn't such a batch of coins have coins from 1959 to 1962 or 1963 mixed into them if they truly remained unsearched? Or let's say this someone started saving whatever Wheats they found in 1963 and spent the Memorial cents. Weren't they now essentially "searched"? However, that is not to say nice coins cannot be found in such rolls but just know they've quite likely been looked over and checked by discerning eyes before making their way to you. And the higher the premium you pay for such rolls the more likely the seller has put something nice into the rolls for you to find or the higher quality the roll will be overall. Just don't go into it expecting such coins to be well, "unsearched".
