[QUOTE="1913LibertyHeadNickel, post: 3514296, member: 93669"]I’m in the motherland (Russia) right now with the wife’s family for her birthday and our 4th wedding anniversary...but the day before I left I had the find of a lifetime...well, my lifetime for sure! I was just so busy packing at the last minute that I didn’t have time to post this. I know a lot of ppl on this thread will be skeptical at first, because honestly, I still don’t believe it happened myself. I’ve been having moments here in Russia where I momentarily daze off and try to revisit that feeling when I popped open the first roll in my car in the parking lot of that bank last week. So here’s the story...

I was visiting a friend I’ve made from a local coin show that owns a precious metal refinery and gives me great deals on silver coins he gets in from others. I bought some awesome coins from him for great prices, and started my long ride home. He lives about 35 miles from my house, and there are a myriad of banks on my return trip home. I wanted some more action, and it was still before banks closed (this was Saturday), so I stopped at 3 or 4 on the way home, including a credit union I’m a member of. At the third stop, the teller told me she didn’t have any older bills, but did have $100 of CRW halves. I didn’t like the “exact” number of $100, and even told her I’d bet it’s a CRH/collector like myself doing a partial box dump, but I did have three rolls of my own to cash in, so I unwillingly exchanged them for 3 of the 10 rolls she had (wrapped in the exact same paper, too).

I thanks the teller and walked to my car and started it up. I even had my seatbelt on and put the car in gear, but for some reason decided to pop the end of one of the rolls before pulling out of the spot....and saw the reverse end of a Walking Liberty staring back at me. Immediately, I put the car in park, shut it off, threw the roll on the seat without checking the rest of the coins, and ran back into the bank to get the other 7 rolls. I told the teller I was very excited by what I saw in one of the rolls and had changed my mind.

When she brought me the rest, I turned the end of the roll her way and said, “Look at this.” Of course, it was another Walker. She was shocked, and told me those rolls had been in the vault for weeks already. I thought this might’ve been a VERY generous collector donating for the national coin hunt, but the timeline didn’t add up. I left the bank promising I’d take care of the teller as soon as I got back into the country; even got her name and the days she works. I called my wife and gushed about what just happened, and promised to hold off on opening any of the rolls until I got home. I didn’t check one of the rolls until I was halfway home, but couldn’t resist....and it was solid 90%, all Walkers and Franklins.

So many of you probably won’t believe this story, but hey, it happened. I have no reason to lie. Those of you who read my posts probably know I’m legitimate.
