In 1976 you could buy 3 1/2 Hershey bars from an average candy store. In 2017 you need 4 or more of those quarters to buy a Hershey bar from a candy store. That 1976 quarter would have to be worth more than 3 dollars just to buy the same stuff as it did in 1976.</p><p><br /></p><p>Buying plastic &#039;flips&#039; to store the coins, as you have said before in other posts, is wasted money to store current non-silver coins which aren&#039;t UNCs taken from UNC rolls.</p><p><br /></p><p>You will have a collection. You will have enjoyed collecting. But you won&#039;t make an &#039;inflation adjusted&#039; profit from it. I will conclude with this: collecting coins and losing money is no different than spending money on alcohol and enjoying the buzz... although collecting coins won&#039;t make you fat or sick as the alcohol might.</p><p><br /></p><p>Keep collecting.
