OK I'll bite. For me it is the hunt, mostly. Kind of like a lottery. I "could be" out at a bar blowing cash and wasting time. Or at one of the two nearby casinos blowing cash and wasting time. Instead, I'm wasting time searching for silver in my own home in my own easy chair. Plus I'm not blowing money. And I opened an account at the bank where they have the coin counting machine. It costs zero to return the leftovers. I even deposit a few bucks just to make them smile. One teller said "Here comes my coin buddy". My Neon gets 36 miles to a gallon, and it is like a little outing every time I go. So it isn't costly at all. Silver now went over $12 a troy ounce. Great future forcasting wizzards are predicting $20 an ounce some time in the distance. Someday I can cash in on my finds. Right now, I just hoard the silver halfs I find. Sure as most speculation goes, it may not give immediate gains. Well I must mention the 1982S proof I found. I paid 50 cents for it. A bidding war on eBay caused that one coin to sell for $18.50. So I made eighteen dollars. I sold a roll of nice 1977P halves found in rolls for $17.00. (my avatar) When I found the two 1944 Walkers and the three or four Franklins, that is what clinched it for me. Granted, I have not found anything like that for 4 or 5 months. But almost every time I find some silver. I'm hooked. When I don't find anymore silver, I'll quit, maybe.
