The charge to reload is $4.95. So on a $500 box of halves you only lose 1%. This is a good deal to me as it costs me almost that much in gas and an hour and a half (round trip) in time to drive to the nearest bank branch that has a counting machine. The nearest CoinStar is less than 5 minutes away. You can then take your prepaid card to an ATM and withdraw the cash. Much better than losing 8.9% for the convenience of the instant cash voucher.

In the meantime, I have found that I can walk into any bank, even ones that I don't have accounts with, and they will sell me all of the halves that they have. So I have decided that I'm going to buy out every bank in the area... my experience is that the other collector knows this too and brings his coins in to them also. I have found his rolls at every bank I have checked. So I'll buy them all out. Get rid of them all through the CoinStar so that I know that I've gotten rid of all the overly recycled stuff, and hope for some more good finds and a fresh supply to build. After yesterday, I've realized that there's still good stuff around here, you just have to be ready to take everything to get to it.[/QUOTE]
