500 boxes searched....BAD trend I have recently searched my 500th box of halves. I started in June 2009, so my average is 2.96 boxes per week. Some stats are in order: Total silver halves found (in boxes only): 1508 (316 90%ers for 20.95% of the total, and 1192 40%ers) Average silver coins per box: 3.02 Adding my loose/CWR/BWR (less than a box) finds (I've searched an approximate $23,785 worth in addition to the 500 boxes), I have found: Total: 2556 silver half dollars with 18.94% of them being the 90% variety. Average silver coins found per box equivilent of the loose/CWR/BWR less than: 22.01 Disturbing Trend Average coins per box on first hundred boxes: 3.40 Average per 2nd hundred: 3.33 Average per 3rd hundred: 3.44 Average per 4th hundred: 2.84 Average per 5th hundred: 2.09 As you can see, it was very consistent for the first 300 boxes. And now, a SIGNIFICANT downward trend (2.09 is about 38.5% less than 3.4 which is what I averaged over the first 300 boxes). To take it further, my last 50 boxes searched yielded 28 skunks and an average of 0.94 silvers per....LESS THAN ONE PER BOX! When I get a box now, I assume it will be a skunk and the fun of it has diminished considerably. :( I know some (UNC WALKER) are still having great success, but for those who thought that it was slowing down.......it is at least in Houston as these statistics proove. So many people are doing this now. Big, big competition. And, the run up of the spot price on silver has raised the consiousness of the public to posible silver coins as well. What a bummer.... On the bright side, I'm less than 5 oz away from finding 500 oz of silver from circulation. :)
