I'm not sure what the W refers to on the labels but they all appear to have been minted in Philadelphia. In terms of being worth over face value, these 12-roll coins have some value over face and appear to sell in the $20 - $25 range when sold individually on eBay. However, a lot of 19 of these rolls sold on eBay yesterday for $559, which comes out to $29 a roll. It looks like someone preferred the convenience of buying various rolls together as one lot than individually. And most are the more common Washington - Garfield presidents, too. I just took a look at these two and there is no missing or doubled edge lettering, unfortunately. If they are rejects from a search then they are rejects from the Danbury Mint as all of them still have their seal and none appear to have been opened. They do have bag marks here and there so I'd say you're right about not finding anything better than what would have been found from a fresh Loomis roll from the year in which they were minted, however. Maybe they are predatory and maybe they're not. They do seem to have a following. If anything, the containers are of high quality and look to be a good way to keep the coins stored well and preserved. It is also nice you can clearly see in the rolls without having to open them. There needs to be some kind of regulatory oversight on the use of these machines as they are indeed destructive to coins. It is particularly unfortunate when you find an older coin that has been ruined by the automated rolling process. They are indeed all uncirculated and have very nice luster. These are the presidents that were found among the lot: 1 George Washington 1789–97 2 John Adams 1797–1801 3 Thomas Jefferson 1801–09 4 James Madison 1809–17 6 John Quincy Adams 1825–29 7 Andrew Jackson 1829–37 8 Martin Van Buren 1837–41 10 John Tyler 1841–45 11 James K. Polk 1845–49 12 Zachary Taylor 1849–50 13 Millard Fillmore 1850–53 15 James Buchanan 1857–61 16 Abraham Lincoln 1861–65 19 Rutherford B. Hayes 1877–81 20 James A. Garfield 1881 22 Grover Cleveland 1885–89 23 Benjamin Harrison 1889–93 25 William McKinley 1897–1901 31 Herbert Hoover 1929–33 33 Harry S. Truman 1945–53 35 John F. Kennedy 1961–63 36 Lyndon B. Johnson 1963–69 37 Richard M. Nixon 1969–74 38 Gerald R. Ford 1974–77 40 Ronald Reagan 1981–89 These are the ones that are missing: 5 James Monroe 1817–25 9 William Henry Harrison 1841 14 Franklin Pierce 1853–57 17 Andrew Johnson 1865–69 18 Ulysses S. Grant 1869–77 21 Chester A. Arthur 1881–85 24 Grover Cleveland 1893–97 26 Theodore Roosevelt 1901–09 27 William Howard Taft 1909–13 28 Woodrow Wilson 1913–21 29 Warren G. Bush 1989-93 That is a stretch with presidents #26 - #30 missing from the lot. The teller said no rolls had been kept or sold to anyone else. I wonder if the redeemer kept some or if they just didn't buy any rolls from Danbury during the time when the missing presidents were issued. At any rate, this has turned out to be a very good find and would yield quite a return if I were to sell them (of which, I am undecided what I'll be doing with them just yet- either keeping them all, keeping just a few, or selling some or all as one lot).
