I could have sold those first three or four shipments of 200+ Wii's in minutes if I had opted to let employees buy them, but I didn't. Even if the mandate hadn't come down from corporate, I probably would have refused to sell them to an employee. You get paid to show up and work. Perks are available, but if those perks are hurting the customer base or customer retention numbers, you're damn straight I'd axe them.</p><p><br /></p><p>I don't work in retail any longer, but I hold those same principles to any retail-oriented business, and like it or not, banking is increasingly retail-centric. It's just a matter of time before most banks will be open into the evening with hours that strongly resemble a retail establishment.
