This must be the week for bad bank relations!! Today I popped by Wells Fargo and asked for halves as normal...the lady handing them to me (a cute little strawberry blonde) hands me the halves ($2.00 worth) and then says "Oh wait!!" and snatches them back and looks at ALL the dates! There were no silver coins there, but I was just astonished at what had just happened. I point blank asked her "So, you're just going to check the coins right in front of me?" so says "Oh no...just that if there is one from 1954 or before they are worth more...sometimes...not worth THAT much more though."

Well, you little beeotch lets get a couple things straight:

1) I know what you are doing/just did is against policy

2) At least try and cut the coins off from customers behind their backs, not right in front of them.

3) PLEASE, get your damned facts straight! It is 1964 NOT 1954, and in the case of half dollars, the magic date is 1970.

Now, after my ranting I can admit that I would probably check coins too if I were a teller, but I would at the very least not do it in front of a customer AND I would try to do it "legaly". By that I mean I would sell the coins to teller B, then buy them with my own money. Also, I would be doing it for more than just the silver reason, I would do it for the numismatic reasons. I bet if I asked the teller from today what a Walking Liberty, or a Barber was she would stare at me cross-eyed and just try to look pretty.

Anyways, my only find today was a 1973 penny.
This must be the week for bad bank relations!! I point blank asked her "So, you're just going to check the coins right in front of me?" so says "Oh no...just that if there is one from 1954 or before they are worth more...sometimes...not worth THAT much more though." Well, you little beeotch lets get a couple things straight: 1) I know what you are doing/just did is against policy 2) At least try and cut the coins off from customers behind their backs, not right in front of them. Copper. Yay.
