2 boxes of dimes, both skunks.

1 box of nickels, 1 war.

3 boxes of halves to deal with over the next couple days and then I'm taking a hiatus.

Well after almost a year of Half Dollar roll hunting here are my results. I would have had a more broken down analysis but I accidently erased most of my records.

Here are my results though after 100 boxes of halves.

    148 40%ers
    13 90%ers
    4 Bennys
    4 Walkers
    1 Barber
    1 90% Silver Proof (2002)

    Foreign:
    1812 Portugal 5 Reis
    1970 Bermuda 50 Cents
    1975 Jamaica 50 Cents
    1975 Spain 50 Ptas
    1981 Mexico 10 Pesos
    1987 Portugal 50 Escudos

I think I had about a 42% find rate. That is to say almost 42% of the time I found at atleast 1 Silver coin, so that equates to a 58% skunk rate.

I never did land a huge box. My buddy that I got started on this though, and who has done considerably less boxes than me (probably about 30 boxes I'd estimate) opened boxes of 18 and 22 total silvers in front of me. While those aren't huge, they are still a very good score and beat anything I've done.

My top 10 boxes were these:
    1. 13 silvers (11-40s/2-90s)
    2. 13 silvers (12-40s/1-90)
    3. 12 silvers (11-40s/1-90)..I pulled this one tonight, was box 100
    4. 11 silvers (10-40s/1-90)
    5. 9 silvers (8-40s/1-90)
    6. 9 silvers (9-40s)
    7. 8 silvers (7-40s/1-90)
    8. 8 silvers (8-40s)
    9. 7 silvers (6-40s/1-90)
    10. 7 silvers (6-40s/1-90)

I found 11 more 40%ers & 3 90%ers in loose. So my grand total is 159 40%ers & 16 90%ers along with the other older ones I found and foreign.

While my numbers aren't off the chart, and I haven't had near as much luck as some folks have had on here, it was still fun, and I enjoy doing it. It's still a nice little stack of silver that I found at face value.

I think it would be pretty cool to get enough halves to be able to fill a $500 box with silver halves. Maybe someday I'll get there.

One more little tidbit to add. In addition to the halves I found above with the silver dimes, nickels, and 1 silver quarter I've found as well I have a total of just over 36 troy ounces of silver I've pulled form circulation. For some reason I messed up my calculations a few months ago and I think I said I found about 45 ty. oz. of silver but that was a mistake.

    HH all,

    -Chester

My record was 13 skunks in a row, and you've past it. I think the thread record is 17 skunks in a row by Erin.....but he hasn't posted in a while so I don't think he'll be able to verify....

Sorry Ace....that sucks. Hopefully, you won't get to the thread record.....

Perhaps silver is getting sorted by the roll sorters now....it seems like everyone's finds have dropped.

I'm gonna try ordering from one more bank before I give up on boxes for good.

BTW, Ace, I saw about $5 in face worth of 90% silver halves in a TD bag while cashing in in WC... they should make their way into a box sometime in the next month, let's hope one of us is lucky enough to catch that box.

$100 BWR halves - el skunkerino
    $100 CWR halves - (1) NIFC, (1) 90% 64 Ken

dumping a bunch of cash into getting the car fixed tomorrow, so definitely no more box halves for a bit. hopefully will still have a little spare fundage to continue the hunt.

Both those boxes of halves from last night were skunks. Tons of marked coins on the edge, like he marked 100 rolls and I was right in the midst of his dump.

    ^^^^^
We had to to put $220 into one of our cars this week for fuel pump, filter, & labor. Honestly it was a great deal since it was a friend who did the work and got us a discount on the parts. Now I have a reliable car back which is an important piece to my CHRing. No car = no pick-ups or in my case for this weekend, I wouldn't be able to dump.

I have 3 boxes left to pick up this week. The last six boxes have been...
    Skunk
    Skunk
    1 x 40%
    1 x 40%
    Skunk
    Skunk
I hope these last 3 are better.

i want to say we pay on the range of $15-25 per box of coin we order via courier (usps) from our correspondent bank (usbank). that means we have spend $25 to buy every $10 box of pennies :\ we generally don't have to send anything back, except for the occasional box or two of halves and "gold" dollars. the only thing we stock up on is quarters, and eventually we'll send back $10,000 worth if we get that far ahead on them. to send money back, we have a contracted armored carrier to pick it up (garda aka "the men with guns") but i'm not sure what that contract cost is, or how much they charge to schedule a pickup.

we never charge a customer to purchase coin. most of our coin-buying crowd are retail businesses though. we don't get people coming in here to purchase coin for roll hunting, which is good because they wouldn't score anything (thanks to yours truly ;)

I'm not sure why I continue to order these Loomis boxes. They continue to never produce silver over a 5 week period.
I think this is 12 in a row from Loomis with 1 x 40% back last month.
I'm done ordering these, it's just not worth the time. I'll prob end up just making one pick up per week of 4 boxes and be done with it.

Box of halves- skunk on silver, got a 1993 S and some NIFC only kept one. Boxes of halves have really dried up on silver.
