Are you planning on dumping rolls? I wonder if that's easier than dumping loose change.

Ya, I'll probably dump the rolls if there's no real reason to open them.

Hey all - haven't posted in a couple of days.

    Another box of Halves today...Skunk.

Skunked on 8 out of last 9 boxes of Halves and 27 out of last 31.

On the other hand...I grabbed $200 in machine wrapped dimes from 2 different banks:

    7 x Silver Roosies!!!

I tried the same yesterday on about $340 in dimes and got ZIPPO!. However, that's 7 Roosies and 7 Mercs in 2 days with this technique. Starting to think I'll do this instead of doing boxes.

Thanks! Last night was great, and thankfully my luck held up for my actual bday. Out of $140 in various rolls I got a Washington, 2 Roosies, 2 war nickels, and 3 wheaties.

Also opened a box of halves that was marked up like crazy, but they missed 1 40%er. Haha, suckers! Also opened a box of dimes and got 1 Roosie, meh but at least it's better than my dime boxes last week.

So all in all a pretty great birthday. Still have about $250 in various rolls between tomorrow and saturday, and I still have 2 nickel boxes and (probably) another box of dimes and halves. I'll post my full results on saturday, as usual.

I was sorting the last of the copper from my previous cent box and came on a nice 77d CUD in the center of Lincoln's hair. That's 2 errors from that box so far ! With the other die crack. I am finishing the 70's decade working backward, so there is hope for more.

And so come the 2012's... almost a full box of the dimes and 14 rolls of nickels out of three boxes of dimes and two boxes of nickels.

Did pull 6 roosies, 1 merc, 1 war, and 1 dateless buff, though.

Not the most productive day in terms of silver, but it was interesting for sure:

$80 BWR dimes: nothing, mostly fresh '11 D rolls
$355 CWR dimes: '72 Canadian, '71 UK half penny, '80 Swedish 25 öre, two US zinc pennies, a '59 Roosie, and a '41 Merc!

    $100 BWR nickels: '93, '94, and '09 Canadian, '09 Mexican peso, and a '45 D war nickel!

I do not open the clear rolls. I pull anything that is dark, dirty, or in anyway suspicious though just to make sure it is not silver. My banks do not have coin machines so I have to turn them in rolled. I wonder if your bank will require that they go through the counter?

I don't remember if I told this story already or not but I coin hunting road trip a couple weeks ago and ran out of cash so I searched some in the car so I could dump it and keep going. It ended up that that town did have a penny machine behind their counter and they made me open all the rolls so they could run it through the machine. I turned in $300 in halves. they got all confused trying to change bags etc. and ended up trying to tell me I turned in $150 according to the machine!!!! I made them count the papers rolls that they had torn open and pay me $300. they didn't fight it to much as they new they had been screwing up.

In summery: You guys can keep your penny arcades! I'm happy turning in rolls.

Luckily, I have not gotten any 2012 coins yet. They are coming ALOT earlier than last year. They started showing up in my area around June and stuck around for a long time, couple solid months. Then they came back at the end of the year.

Well, If I had that option, I'd buy them all, and if you can't afford to keep 'em, just save certain Ikes you want and take the rest back to a different bank. At least you were able to go through them, and were able to keep the keepers. Not really too big of a deal that you couldn't make a dime off each on ebay or whatever.

None of my banks accept loose coins and the coin star machines charge a very high percentage, so of course I roll mine. With cents, since I pull all copper, I weigh out 125 grams and roll that. It's easier than counting and very accurate once the copper has been removed. Dimes and nickles, I generally count out. Quarters, halves and dollars are put into plastic tubes. I marked each tube at the roll count, so that saves time also. It gives me more time free to search.

I'm pretty sure he means 2X40%er's. Otherwise he prob would have said WLH, Walking Liberty Half and maybe even a smile face.

Well I asked for 2,000... but they said they probably only have a few more they can order, but I'll have to wait and see. All I kept out of them was 2 76 proofs, a morgan, a peace, and 5 1973's in very nice condition. I don't take the time to check for type 2's or 3's or whatever other people look, just silver and 73s. By the way, if anyone wants to buy some... :)
