Man, those are some awsome boxes!!!

Don't loose faith when you get a row of skunks...it will happen. If it doesn't happen I'm going to take a vacation in your garage and get some boxes while I'm in town!!!

Nothing much of interest recently. Although, my volume is much, much less than most of you, I do usually get something interesting at least each search sitting.

I've mainly been doing cents and nickels, but have gotten bored. I think I'll ramp up the dimes.

Well got my answer this morning weather or not silver can be found in those clear roll boxes, And the answer is yes. Found a 1960 Quarter today in one of those boxes at the very bottom.

First post but I've been reading the board for a few months and y'all inspired me to start roll searching. I've been doing 2 boxes of halves a week for 5 weeks now (1 from Wells Fargo & 1 from Chase), and I've found a grand total of two 40%ers. Thats 2 out of 10,000 so my average is a whopping 0.02%. You can't imagine how jealous I am to read about all the silver y'all find. What am I doing wrong?

I know how you feel!!!!! I do two boxes a week plus scrap up CWR's on wednesdays, my day off. I got 2 from 8 boxes this month. got like 30 from two lucky CWR finds. you'll read these people with crazy finds have dry spells too. you'll also notice they are going through 10k or more a week in some cases. I don't know where they find the time!

I also think the most of the big finds come from customer rolls not boxes. the boxes are steady. the CWR's are feast or famine.

I'm so bummed right now. Just picked up my box from WF, and all the rolls are slit open where they've been already checked. They just taped the box back up and sent it back out! I'd say there's a pretty fair chance I'll be getting shorted since the coins are basically loose in the box.

joey0053 had been doing pretty well with Q's. Check out his posts. I found a 1944 Washington yesterday from a box.

Be careful about those boxes. They were obviously tampered with. If I received a box like that I would notify my teller and let them know about the situation. Mine are always GLUED shut and I always inspect them quickly when they are handing them over.

You have to take the good with the bad. Up your volume is a solution. You'll get through the skunks quicker and be onto the silver faster as well. Pick up CWR and loose when you can.

Thanks for the advice HOTN, but realistically searching and dumping 2 boxes per week is about all I can do for now. However I have thought about ordering 5 or 10 boxes at a time to maybe cut down on the frequency of just getting the dump box off the top of the stack each week. Good idea?

I've been reading this thread the past few days, and it just occurred to me? Who even uses Half Dollars any more? In the last 20 years or so, I never get a Half Dollar back as part of my change anywhere. It's always 2 Quarters, or some combination of dimes/nickels?

Seems these boxes of halves would just be passed on from one roll searcher to the next?

I'm tempted to get a box and start doing this myself, but something tells me it's very time consuming for little gain. And YET, I still have this desire to try it out!!!!

The loose halves are nice when I can find them, but someone has the lockdown on all the banks in town. I do have a great teller at a small town bank I pass every week or two though. First time I ever asked about halves, the teller hands me 6 40%ers. She called me the next morning to tell me she had 4 more she was saving for me!

Now that is a nice teller. What great customer service!

If you have the funds, go for it. 10 boxes = 5k. That's a little much for me so I have to rotate the boxes and the dumps to keep the boxes coming and the cash in my wallet.

That's the way I've been doing it as well. Pick up a box on Tues and Thurs, then dump on the weekend. Just seems like at 1 box per bank per week, I'm always getting someone else's dumped box off the top of the stack when my order gets placed.

North or south? I'm pretty close to the DE border here in SE PA. I've hunted all over North Delaware. Give me the town name if you want, I'm in West Chester, PA.

Checked 8 rolls so far. No silver of course, but no short rolls and the edge searcher missed a BU 1986 P and a BU 1992 P! They are by far the prettiest coins I've found in any boxes I've searched.
