    We need a roll searchers forum. I wonder if any consideration has been made on our request. Anyway's, I was just messing around with my Excel spreadsheet and I calculated that I recovered 51.45 oz of silver from circulation in about 8 months last year. I'm shooting for 100 oz this year!

    Oh, and BTW this post would go perfectly in that type of forum/thread.

    Not a good day -

    $1000 halves - skunk, although I DID find a 1982P "no FG", and (maybe) a die crack. But no silver :(

    (On an amusing side note, I am up to 1 full rolls' worth of 1974d DDO's found and set aside. Yeah... 20 of the silly things! :p )

    Stopped by a bank that told me on the phone they had a bunch of halves available, since no one ever wanted them - but when I arrived, while I was at the counter, the manager called the teller and told her she couldn't sell them to me if I didn't have an account!!! Grrrrr! No wonder they have them sitting around taking up space and assets... They DO NOT want them, but won't sell them to me! Actually quite steamed and fuming about this.

    I think, unless the $1000 bag I buy and search tomorrow is simply AMAZING, I am going to take a break from halves for a few weeks or a month. Get back to basics, with dimes and nickels :)

    Wish I believed quarters were worth my time... lol!

    Box of dimes, 1 '64.

    Met a nice teller yeasterday on the way home. Got a tellers tray '61 Quarter, and she let me pick out a couple of foreigns from the reject bin of the machine. I got (among some other swiss coins) four twos:

    Two Dollar Australian
    Two Euro (German)
    Two Franc (Swiss)
    Twoonie (Canadian)

    Made my day :D

    HOT, I never thought about calculating how many ounces I've found. Now I have to go back and do that. I just don't know the amounts of silver in the coins. Gotta figure that out first.

    VA,

    go to coinflation.com. I did mine in Excel, but you can type in how many of each you have in the silver coin calculator and it will give you the oz's.
    FYI...
    40% halves = .1479 oz per coin
    90% halves = .3617 oz
    Q's = .1808 oz per
    D's = .0723 oz per

    With the recent drop in silver it's good to think about oz's rather than $$$$.

    I have a spreadsheet that does it all automatically too. If anyone wants a copy, pm me and I can e-mail it to you.

    Yesterday:

    Box of Dimes: Skunk
    Box of Nickels: 1 x 1945S War and 1 Dateless buffalo

    So far this year, 1 dime and 1 nickel. Blah. I also have a business trip next week and it will keep me from hunting for a few days. January is not looking good.

    Got to run an errand in the afternoon and going to take some time to CRH. For some reason I want to get some quarters, I'm not sure why and I know I'm asking for punishment but I think I'm going to pick up a box. It will also allow me some time to unload the $990 something in clad halves and $250 in dimes I have sitting in my car.

    I never really got an answer except for "it's worth considering." Couldn't hurt to bump that thread to see if we can get an answer. http://www.cointalk.com/t196202/

    I was finally able to pick up 2 boxes of halves today, for the first time in 3 weeks and it felt like even longer. The results were great. Box 1 : 9 40%, 3 90%. Box 2 : 4 40% 1 90%. Now I just wish I had been able to get the boxes for the last 2 weeks.
