Went through another interesting box of cents tonight, several rolls had about 30-40 wheaties and a small mix of BU late 60's early 70's

I found this nice clip inside one of the rolls!

Hmmm... today was both good and bad :p

Walked to a bank I have bought from 2-3 times previously, and was informed they couldn't sell to me because I am not a customer, and additionally that if I WAS a customer, they charge $0.08 per roll, or $3 per box, because apparently so many people are wanting to buy boxes it is costing the bank a lot to ship them in, or something...

A bit depressing, but I chatted with the manager lady (who told me this) for a bit, and after she found out that I do this largely for exercise, because of my long illness, she told me they could sell me BAGS at no extra charge, since it costs the bank to ship those OUT, and would actually save them a little money rather than cost them a little money. She said they have 1 customer who buys ALL nickel and cent bags from them, but if I could swing $1000 at a time, she would sell me dime and quarter bags. I asked about how many bags of halves they fill, and she told me it was about 2 per year... lol. I asked about how full it was right now, and she said it only needed about $70 more to fill up!!!! I then asked if I could bring in $70 in halves, top it off, and buy it from her - she said that was fine! I am excited <3 She promised to hold it for me <3

I called around a TON of banks today, asking if any had halves lying around, and found 1 that said their tellers had a ton of them, and they had had them forever since no one ever wanted them!

Well, tomorrow should be awesome <3 I plan to go buy everything from that bank, then use $70 from there to fill the other bank's bag... <3 <3 <3 <3 <3!!!!!

Not to mention, my main pick-up bank has ordered me 2 bags which will arrive next wednesday - they may or may not be the final 2 they will get for me, but either way, this will be a good week <3

Those of you having so much trouble buying coins in boxes, or being charged a price per box, may offer to buy bags instead without a charge, and see what the banks say. Useless if it is a dump bank, but they cannot ALL be dump banks... lol!

And as I mentioned before, I am trying to set up a standing order of $2000/wk in halves, and I figure if I offer to carry a constant minimum balance of $500 or so in my account with them, it may be worth it to them. Something like this may be worth considering. Just TALK with the tellers and managers at your pick-up banks, be friendly, and you can undoubtedly work out SOMETHING :p

    Good Day yesterday
Had $500 in halves and another $500 in dimes to dump to start the day. Did that while hitting up banks for halves and came up with all clad.
Got a Box of Loomis Dimes - SKUNK - 3rd in a row, Loomis are impossible to open sans knife compared to Strings and they are terrible for silver
Got my 2 boxes of halves and one was split open and the rolls falling out. It happened to be my best box ever.
Box 1 - 10 x 40% !!!!! - Rolls 2,3,&4 all had one silver, and a roll near the end had 2 silvers in it
    Box 2 - 1 X Frankie near the end
No skunks on the halves and I was very happy. Dumped the clad and I have my cash to start again when the banks re-open.
Who else see's "LOMBARDO" halves, saw a couple out of the 5 boxes I searched this week. I think I heard they were showing in NJ.

Only got 2 boxes this week and found 2 40%ers. But when I went to dump them I went to a different branch than usual. Apparently, these guys never check their reject bin. I pulled a handful of stuff out of there including a 42 merc, 57D roosie, and a 63D quarter. Not too shabby for not even trying!

So this morning I get home at 7 AM from work, and crash sideways across the bed (Lol...)

At 8:30 AM I get woken by the phone - it's my teller at the bank, calling to tell me my halves are in. Huh? Wait, what? I am expecting $2000 in halves from a different bank on wednesday, but I didn't even know I had an order in at this one! :p So I check my wallet - a bit over $1000. dangit. I throw on a shirt, stumble out the door, and head over there. I bought 1 bag, and told them I would try to get the other before they closed at noon, otherwise I'd get it when they opened on monday (yes, this branch will be open monday... how weird is that? Lol!)

got them home, and started searching, pulling out all the dates I generally loupe and settign them aside. I came across 1x 1972 proof, but it was a skunk for silver. No worries, I gathered $650 in halves I didn't even wanna loupe, and went out to my dump bank. I got out of there at 12:01... and my pick up bank closed at noon :p Ok, fine. I will spend tomorrow finishing off this bag, monday I will buy the 2nd $1000, tuesday I will go by the little bank with the almost full bag, top it off, and buy that $1000, then wednesday I have $2000 coming in...

holy crud, I am doing $5000 in halves this week! Lol! I was NOT expecting this :)

    Wish me luck ;)
