I think the money, lost time, and time in prison wouldn't be worth it, but of course I'm not really a Barber type guy

Went to TD this weekend to cash in $1000 in halves. Brought the girls donuts since they always treat me real well and get me in and out of there. They appreciated the donuts and insisted I give one to my daughter. So she's eating her donut and making a mess of the place and we start cashing in the coins. We get to the second bag and the machine stops, it's jammed. We un-jam the machine and re-start, now the sensor arm which lights up has a problem. The girl takes the machine apart and after several tries can't get it back working. So I have a ticket for $107.02? and then there are some of my coins that had been counted but we can't get it to total out. So I lug back out to my car $825 in halves and drive like 10 more miles to the next TD bank. That thankfully went well and the teller at the first TD bank calls me and tells me about 15 minutes after I left they got the machine fixed and they deposited $47.80? into my daughters account (I was just cashing halves). So my 15 month old made out with a donut and $47.80 in her savings, not a bad day for her.

I at least got all the halves cashed in but it took alot longer than expected, picked up $100 in dimes from two different banks and scored 1 x 1941 Merc and 3 x Roosie, which was my only silver of the week. I totally needed that after the morning fiasco of cashing in the halves

My son was the one that found the buffalo, you would have thought he hit gold.

What are you trying to point out with the Grant dollar?

I did a box of quarters looking for 2011 (haven't found but one all year). No silver (I didn't expect any) and only two 2011, a Gettysburg and an Olympic.

I also did a box of halves today....skunk.

Got last week's Cap1 box today (turns out they got me two). I have no luck with these boxes but I keep trying. Lo and behold, 23 40%ers out of one box! And 1 64 out of the other. Not too shabby.

Last week I went to my credit union and asked for $25 worth of pennies. After a bit of looking around they came up with 50 rolls. Got home, went through and found 54 wheaties and 1 indian head. Also found some good dates, a proof looking 1967 penny, etc.

I think an older woman must have just cashed in her change because most of the rolls had the name and address of a woman named Edna.

    Good stuff :)

Nice find on the wheaties! Any early date wheaties or 40s and 50s? What date is the IH?

The IH is a 1896, Liberty not visible. As for the wheaties, they are mostly 30's and 40's with a couple 20's and one being a 1919. One was a 1958 that looks AU with nice orange/red tones.

Go for it! Good luck if you can get out. I'm on a job in AL for a few weeks and dying to hit some banks down here but don't think I'll be able to. Did 94hrs last week and will probably be the same this week. Certainly no time for banks if this keeps up...

On the up side, my wife picked me up 2 boxes last Wed, 2 more today from a different bank, and 2 more this Wednesday. By the time I get home I will have 6-8 boxes of halves waiting for me. In addition to the 6 boxes under our bed that I still have to dump

Good on you to afford to have that kind of cash tied up, that would bankrupt me, hah. I don't work 94 hours a week, though...

Yeah, I'm a field engineer and rack up about 1000 hrs of OT/year on the road. I've got a good amount just sitting in a couple banks for now, till we get a house next year. I figure it's making about just as much sitting under my bed as it does in the bank :) Once in a while I get time to hit the banks around the country. Maybe I'll catch a late flight back when I finally get out of here, just to hit some banks while their open lol. I'll be in Georgia for about 4 weeks next month too. I have no idea how the hunting is down here in the south though...

At least I'll know not to bother next time I'm around Philly though :D

    ...Yeah, probably not, man. :p

I should have been an engineer... I've got the brain, just not the work ethic... Keep thinking about going back to school to do something like that... all I really care about is money, haha. I can hate my job, but if I'm getting paid mucho dinero, it's all good.
