Box of nickles yielded a 1943 war and a 1904 V. After dropping this box on sidewalk walking out of the bank and rolls flying everywhere im glad it wasnt a skunk.. :)

2 boxes of halves last night - Skunk. 5 skunks on the halves in a row.

Down at the beach for the weekend, so no searching till tomorrow or Monday.

    Some nice finds lately!

I finally broke my dry spell. My last two boxes have been as follows:

    Box 1 - 5 40%ers
    Box 2 - 6 40%ers

Nothing great, but solid and I'll take it!!!

    Found a 1951 Wheatie

My penny search continues, with a 1951 Wheatie that somehow made its way to Toronto. It's not valuable, and it's only a Fine, but finding them has gotten the history bug biting me. 1951 Wheatie obv shrunk.jpg 1951 Wheatie rev shrunk.jpg

Found My First Wheatie With Mint Mark

Again, I'm surprised at the number of Wheaties that have migrated to Toronto. This one's a well-worn 1953 D. 1953 D Wheatie rev shrunk.jpg

Hit my first and only Barber Dime today after going through a $500.00 bag. I did hit (15) Barber Halves with my first bag I bought back in Jan. Oddly enough, those have been the only Barber Halves I have hit even though I have gone through around $200,000 worth of halves since that time.

That's great info vtvick777 - thanks! I'll keep my eyes peeled for the 1974-D DDO as you recommend.

That's not encouraging about the '87! But, I guess it'll keep me focused... for a long time!

My totals for halves so far:

    $3,494 searched
    4 x 90%
    25 x 40%

Which brings my yields up to:
1.47 ozT of silver per $1k of halves searched
5.14 ozT of silver found so far (in halves)

Awesome (IMHO) - but everything definitely got skewed by that last killer box. Over time, I'm really interested to see what the silver yield normalizes out to.

A 1980 Panama centavo in a Canadian penny roll

It's only a curiosity, but it's interesting enough to share. Especially since it came from a coin-sorting-company roll, not a bank roll. Tourism on the cheap!

"Oddly enough?" Actually no. Most of us have never hit a Barber half, so you finding them in the first place was out of the norm and not finding any since would be normal. I remember that first bag you bought, wow, was that special.

I picked up two more boxes today:

    Box 1: Shutout
    Box 2: 5 40%ers and one 63 Franklin :D :) :D My first 90%er in a while.....quite a while actually.

I was hoping all bags were like that first one. :D

That first bag got me doing this about 20-30 hrs a week. I have made about 5 roadtrips of over 200 miles and another 5 or so from 50-100 miles away. With all the bags right from the coin machine I still thought I would get another Barber Half. I have hit around (220) Walking Liberties since Jan. Most were from the first bag and found in the first month. :)

It's the aftereffects of the Canadian dollar being near par with the greenback.

The rest of the trip was skunky, about $1200 and two 40%ers until the last stop which gave up seven more 40%ers for a total of 40 silvers.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

I went through 100 rolls of pennies and found 32 wheaties. Mostly from the 40's and the 50's but a couple from the 20's and 30's

Did well at the flea market today...3 roosies and a quarter plus some non-silver US philippines and a cuban for $15 plus 2 UK half crowns 50% silver a dominican '47 25 centavo piece for $16, all for less than melt (the UK pieces are both at least $10 coins). Not a bad morning, and though not a roll search, the most searching I have done recently without the use of a credit card!
