Wow, now that's one Wide '99 AM! It's in good shape, too. :thumb:

I often wondered how these happen. I mean, I can understand the Close 92-Ds, as that's just a transition goof-up. But by the time these '98s, 99s, and 00s rolled around, the Mint was off those Wide dies for years. :rolling:

Around 1964 my friends and I would go to the local banks and go through rolls and rolls of every coin that we needed to fill our blue Whitmans. I was working on Roosevelts that day and purchased 1 roll for $5. I walked over to a table and dumped roll on top....all Mercury dimes, common dates. Put them in my pocket and went and got another roll, just silver Roosevelts this time. Cashed those back in for my $5 and went home with a roll of Mercury dimes for $5. In 1964 when you were just ten $5 was a lot of money.....sold them at a coin show in 1999....THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS BEFORE THE "C" WORD......CLAD.

I buy about $10.00 worth of Penny rolls and usaually pull what I call UNC from the middle. According to the description for grading it can be an Unc if it fits, it may not matter where the coin was found. Grading isn't my opinion but the level of grades it doesn't fit util it reaches that perfect fit. I get a kick out of ebay auctions that refer to BU coins but then you get them home and wow, it's not so Brilliant.

1996-S Proof. Not too bad. I put it in my 20th century collection frame to replace the mint state coin I had in there, looks better

    1966 MS-65 to MS-66
    1967 toned AU

    Not bad

Here is a '57-D I pulled out of a roll. Full mint luster on the reverse and probably half on the obverse. :thumb:

I picked up 2 boxes of halves yesterday, my first since Christmas and New Years.

The Bad: I opened the first box and saw 3 or 4 rolls that were clearly short. I opened them up first and found the worst one to have only 14 coins. Another held 17, another had 18.

The Good: Both boxes each had seventeen 40% silver Kennedy halves, including 22 '67s, many of which looked like they'd left the mint yesterday. There was also a '64-D, a cruddy '79-S, an '02-P, and an '04-P. 3 rolls in the second box had too many coins, so I made up a little on the first box. :D

Went through a $50 bag of cents today. Got 30 wheats. Oldest was a 1939 but I also found a 1979 Panamanian coin.

right now it is hard to find half dollar containing 40%. not to maintion 90% silver. quarter dated 1976. westward nickel in au condition except you buy it. old jefferson nickel dated 1950's and below and of course wheat cent.

i always buy from bank's rolls and search it. i always got discouraged.

Also... I just found a Six Pence silver coin in a roll of pennies dated 1907. I believe it's British. Anyone know what it might be worth?

I'm hoping the luck I had earlier in the week with my boxes of halves is indicative of things to come, but I can't get another box until Thursday after next. The anticipation is already building.....
