No, it's not silver. The US was striking Panama's coins with the same planchets. So 1964 half balboas are 90%, 1965-70 are 40%, and later are clad.

Thanks for the info, But this just lets me know I wasn't clear in writing. The '67 I got was a US half, then I got a Medio Balboa ('96 I think), etc. But it is good to point out, because evidently the Balboa's were made on same planchets as US, so the US rules follow for them regarding the silver content. So If anyone gets these, it's good to know.

Question: when you put tissue paper over it, is this the white tissue paper that you wrap shirts or presents in? or is it kleenex?

Just returned my halves from yesterday and picked up 24 rolls of pennies and 4 rolls of nickels (I hoard copper):

Out of 24 penny rolls (1,200 coins):
    255 non-wheat coppers
    3 wheaties (1950, 1953, 1956-D)
    9 2009 Lincolns
    15 2010 Lincolns
    2 Canadian (1999, 1992)

Out of the four nickel rolls (160 coins):
nothing noteworthy (but -like I said, I keep all nickels and copper pennies)

So, copper yield for the pennies (not counting the Canadians):
    255 pre-1982
    3 Wheats
    = 258 Cu coins / 1,200 = 21.50%!!!!

I'm happy. The rest of the zincs will get dumped back into the coin machine on Monday.

Thanks for the info. It's obviously clad. I'll keep it and hopefully e-bay it some day!

CU yield in Philly is right around 25%, most of the time.

Box of Halves - 2 x 1968 Kennedy's. Can't seem to get more than 2 a box, but I'll take it! It adds up steadily!

Went and got String and Son's box from Cap One today. Shutout. Stopped at a few banks and found CWR's that included 13 40% and one 1954. Then went to one coin shop that I knew was selling some specific coins cheap. Bought them for $10 each, took them to another shop I knew was buying high and sold them for $33 each. Used the profit to turn around and buy some BU ASE's. I don't mind being the middle guy when the price is right.

Box of nickels from the same bank that yielded the 46 V-nick box; skunk. Did get a '38-D which fills a hole and completes the '38s for me. Now a 39-D and I'll be done through 1950.

Finally drying out from Irene's visit last week...Hoping to open up a PNC account so I can order a box of halves and get back to searching again!

You did great with the CWRs and then with the flipping. What were you buying for 10 and selling for 33? Seems like it would have to be morgans/peace dollars to get 33 bucks each but than that begs the question of who would actually sell those coins for 10 bucks. Thats why I just have to ask...

I have been doing pretty good lately, at least for me. I recieved my 2nd buffalo from a roll today(1920), found a '37 Merc in Walmart vision center a week or so ago, and got my first silver halves(4 40%s). I have also made some good buys/sales recently-1928-D Merc I got for melt in about VF-AU(sold for $46.66 on ebay), and a set of silver coins(Walker,Frankie,90% kennedy, washington, roosie,Merc, and a war nickel) that I only paid $25 for. Any input on what someone should expect to pay for a so called 'unsearched' roll of v-nickels? thanks

Another 2 boxes of dimes yields:

    2x '52

    A '61

    A '64

And a 1996 with something around the edge...looks really funky. It almost looks like a necklace mount but without the loop the necklace would go thru

200 in quarters (dont know why): skunked

I finished my box of halves and pulled 8 2010P's, 9 2010D's, and two other NIFC's. Pm me if you want any of the 2010's

Picked up $150 in CWR's today. Teller at the bank said he was almost positive they were unsearched/contained silver. Well almost half of them were marked. Didn't even find a NIFC coin. He was nice enough to give me a 40% half he was saving so not a total shutout.

On a side note, what is the tissue paper for?
