    That's what I thought...I don't know why she said $200.

Also, interesting story from her when I told her I was collecting:

Apparently she is related to lady who worked as a housekeeper for some rich folks, cleaning the house and such. At some point she was leaving the job (I can't remember if it was because she was retiring or the family was moving.) but as a token of appreciation, the family gave her a coin on her last day. The teller couldn't remember what it was, only that it was a "1700 something coin". End of the story - The lady took the coin to get appraised and find out what is was....turned out it was worth $16,000.

WTH can't something like this ever happen to me?? hahaha

Yeah Merc, it seems like we have been fortunate more consistently. I went out of town last weekend and stopped at a small town bank. They had a box so I took it and found some 90%'ers. Wish I had more time to search the rest of that town but was on a tight schedule...alas.

I'm off tomorrow, cleaning out the local banks and maybe headed a bit outta the way, we'll see.

The ikes were very nice, mostly 1978's, several Bicentennials, and 1 '72. I'd grade 2 of the '78's at 65, three at 64. Nice coins for face.

Let me add to Merc's sentiments on our area....

    Another box of Halves today...SKUNK!

My original bank that has been getting me halves has been really awful lately. I can't remember the last time I got silver out of one of their boxes. Furthermore, I can't remember the last time I got more than 1 Silver coin out of a box of Halves. I've had more luck with the random scores of a few rolls here and there.

    NO MORE SKUNKS!
    NO MORE SKUNKS!
    NO MORE SKUNKS!

Do I need to make another sacrifice to the Silver Gods! UGH!

Ace, keep at it, it's all luck of the draw, buddy. Found someone on CL who offered me $550 for my $400 in ikes, by the way, debating it... Might just hoard the Ikes, but I have a chance to buy some nice old Merc dimes, and that has me debating selling the Ikes to fund a large chunk of it.

Watched that youtube video... hard to believe someone at that bank didn't question loosely wrapped coinage, esp. when silver is the talk of the town...

I'm still looking out for the cent for ya, haven't found anything that would grade nicer than 62 due to spotting. Seems like all of 'em have major spotting issues

I didn't see any 2011 cents in my first box I just got...at least not any in any kind of decent condition.
I have another box for tomorrow though and I'll keep my eye out for one for you.

I had put this reply in another section but since Ikes were brought up here ill say it again. Is there any money to be made on Ikes. The bank I go to to get halves ( box form ) the main teller I deal with said to me the other day " hey I can order you Ikes too if you want?" So I told her to order me $500. I figured that a good number to start off with. I just dont see them selling on ebay for any type of premium. Oh well I guess I just keep them for myself :)

I'd love to find a bank that could order me Ikes, none of them seem to be able to.

Even if only to cherry pick for 65's and better, plus the occasional 40%er...

You could fight crime by day, and be a maid by night. Kind of like a less awesome, reverse Batman.

I just wish there was some small premium for regular ikes. They seem to be next to impossible to find for the exception of ebay. I guess looking for silver ones should be as much fun as looking for silver with the halves. Well hopefully Ill find some.

I searched a box of dimes and found a 1948.
Also on a side note, I think once we get to a 1000 pages we should lock this thread and post a new one because it's kind of massive now.

A few weeks back, I asked for a box of D's at a BoA branch, and they handed me a $500 box - $5 x 100 rolls. I had only seen the $250 boxes, so I was kinda surprised (glad I had the $500 to cover it.)

So, I would think a $200 box of N's is possible.
