Went through $10 in loose halves; one 40%er. I actually saw it on the counter, waiting to be rolled. Went through 3 rolls of dimes. Nothing terribly interesting, but a 79 dime with half the w in "we trust" being cut off, and another dime with some very obvious green toning. Not worth anything really, but cool none the less.

Oh, and funny story. I ask the teller if she has any rolled halves. She says maybe, and goes to check. She says all she has is dollar coins. I ask if they're the big Ikes, or presidential dollars/sacs. She says they're all rolled together. And I'm just thinking, lady, you cannot roll an ike with a presidential dollar. They're about 3 times the size. Had a good laugh.

Halves box two gave up a '64 and two 40%ers, which were both enders, strangely enough. Kind of a a letdown after two enders.

Absolutely amazing find moon! I did my two boxes of halves yesterday and got 1 40%. Ugh. Going to try a new strategy since the silver in my boxes seem to be drying up awfully quickly. About a month ago I went around to banks and asked each if they had any halves and most of them said they didn't and don't see them at all. Still, I think I'll try banks in a different area because that seems to be where your guys' big finds are, you know intercepting the silver that's turned in before its sent back and mixed in with the clad. Do most of you have a couple banks that will save them for you, or most banks around you get halves in regularly?

Most banks know I'm "the half dollar guy" and drop by once every couple weeks to see if they've picked up anything, so they tend to hold stuff for me, but if another customer asks first... I'm SOL.

    Last week was well.....weak
Searched $600 in dimes for 1 Roosie
    Seached $130 in Q's - skunk - 3 full rolls of brand new 2010 Grand Canyon Q's
All the banks I visited on Saturday (5) had a total of $4.00 in skunk halves
Lots of driving and dumping for minimal results

Hoping that the bank comes through with my box of halves today and that it produces something!!!
I need to find some silver!!!

    Bob,
If you don't mind telling all of us silver freaks out here...how was it back in 2009 when you started, much different? I would have to imagine silver was a little more plentiful back then?? The reason I say that is because I have read posts years back on people finds. Then again, after your find today (before work!!!) it seems like your doing fine as it is.

Monday - $100 nickels, no Buffs, no Silver and no Libs. But I did find the '55 Philly that I needed for my Whitman. Since I was figuratively skunked on nickels I bought the $120 in halves my credit union had this morning - 6 40%ers first silver halves in awhile for me - since my jackpot back in March. Cents, I have a deal with one bank that I buy up their cents from the coin machine - $10 worth this morning and 6 common dates 40's and 50s and 8 S mints.

An old man running his garage sale let me look through his pocket change when I asked if he had any coins. He remembered me from 2 years ago. Fount a Mount Hood D quarter. ANother person let me look through their pocket change as well. Nothing in that grouping.

I've been out of the roll searching game for a few months now...but I'm back! I left my job and have literally had NO money to put towards this since early May.

Went to the bank today and wanted to get a box of nickels...for some reason I thought they were $100 but apparently it's $200? Ended up getting 2 boxes of pennies instead since they already had them there. I'll post results when I'm done.

A box of nickels should be $100 $2x50 rolls.

I keep stats on all my finds. I'm right at about 3.3 silvers found per box. In 2009, it was about 3.9 per box, and my last 100 boxes it is about 2.9 per box. A definite downturn.
