Thanks man, I have been working at a bank for over 2 years and just now getting into coins. It makes me almost cry knowing when I have past on. I remember getting over 30 dollars in halfs all dated before 64 and I just gave them away.

    Moonshine ....................

Killer finds today. Stopped at a bank that I've only been to once before and had scored $7 or so in loose halves that yielded a Franklin and 2-3 40%ers. The teller I spoke to today didn't have any nor did the one next to her. I recognized the teller from my first trip there and went to talk to her. She didn't have any but said they had some in the vault. Next was the usual awkward "how many do you need\how many do you have" exchange. She said they had $200-$300 worth. My first thought is BWR's from a box so I told her I'd take $100 worth. The two tellers went in and came back with CWR's. I notice that one has "silver" written on it but so does one of the tellers. She says "silver eh? maybe i should take this" and laughs. She rips open the end and asks if they are silver....I reply with "hmmm...hard to tell." I brought a bag of candy to get in good with them based on my first trip there so I hand it over and the other teller leaves. I ask the teller how many more they had and she says "$230." I told her I had enough money to buy them so I might as well just take the rest while I am here. My heart is pounding. I get out to the car and open the end of another roll and see the reverse of a Walker.

I stop at another bank that I recently scored full rolls of Rosie's. The week before I brought candy to the teller and I walk in and she has a full roll of Roosie's with my name written on it!

I video'd the unrolling of some of the halves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC8r825lNnM

There was 1 roll of beautiful BU 1964's, a full roll of AU 1967's, a mixed roll of Franklins and Walkers, and other mixed 40%ers. The enders on the roll of 1964's are nicely toned with one of them having rainbow toning. I am still in shock.

    Finds for the day:

    51 silver Roosevelt dimes

    1964 (90%) x 29
    1967 (40%) x 20
    Franklin x 14
    Walkers x 6
    40% x 46

At that price (melt), just weigh it on an accurate scale and measure it. If it weighs around 4.18 g, and it's not over diameter or thickness, grab it.

I may have to do that, he said he's had it for about 2 years but has never put it out on display. Hopefully he will still have it once I get some extra money =\

and moon... wow.... I can't wait for the day when I finally get a good find, I figure if I keep looking, I'll get at least one good find, eventually, hopefully... right?

I'm in shock as well with your find! good video by the way, it got me all excited to get back out there and keep looking! I love the sound of a stack of silver coins :D

I order from them all the time. I never get charged a fee (I bank with them). They did tell me they do not service non-customers. How do I do. Eh. Sometimes like yesterday, it was a bust for silver, but I did get some amazing AUs. I did have some luck for a while in dimes. One silver a box, which for me, and dimes, is pretty decent.

I bought $100 worth of pennies not too long ago along with a box of nickels. Pennies: I got alot of wheaties, the oldest is 1927. In the nickels I found several war nickels, and pre 1960.

I think the pennies are the most interesting as for finding foreign or old one, the nickels are fun, but when I find buffalos, more often than not, the date is rubbed off.

I have a bunch of bills coming up, so I won't be able to do any halves or anything for a while. Oh well.

Hi . I'm new here. First post actually. I am an avid roll searcher, but maybe not to the extent of many of the others that I see on this thread. Every week I get $20 worth of rolls. 1-quarter, 1-dime, 2-nickel, and 2-cent. I search the pennies first for what I may need in my collection and errors, then i separate the copper and re-roll the zincs. I keep all nickels (35% profit! on every one, but I'm sure that you all knew that already), etc.....etc..... My latest trip to the bank yeilded two 2008-p nickel rolls, BU in NF String and Son wraps, and a roll of BU 1974-s cents. I opened the penny roll and was like- SWEET! I ended up trading one of the 2008-p nickel rolls and the 74-s cent roll for two silver dimes and 500 pre-82 cents. Not a great find, but I take what I can get!

In 2009, I asked my bank to order a box of half dollars for me. They did and I averaged one silver piece per roll!!! A 1943, 1958, five 1964s were the best ones. The rest were 40% halves. The next box I had ordered contained 100% regular clads but several BU 1991 rolls made it interesting.

I seem to be having more luck with my pocket change lately than rolls. Especially from the local McDonalds every morning. This week found a Washington Quarter with a nice long die crack on the left wing, a Lincoln cent with minor die crack at the base of the memorial and a nice clean silver warnick at the local gas station.

How do you guys usually sell your silver - craigslist, ebay? Or those "we buy gold/silver" stores?

Here are my thoughts: E-BAY you lose 10-18% in fees etc. "We buy gold" shops usually buy for 75-80% (You lose 20-25) as they tend to melt it and sell it to real shops who pay the 90-95% of spot. Craig's list you can get around melt but you get 6-7 junk responses for every legit one. Craig's list also has a risk factor since you don't know who you are dealing with. The better coin shops will buy from you around 90%-92% of value.

    Hope that helps,

PS...to my gang here, I took the 1916D Mercury I found to the coin show and had 4 dealers look at it including the guru they all sent me to. All of them said it was DEFINITELY real!! A great day!
