colligoergosum I collect, therefore I am

Skunked on halves today but teller offered me this 1950 D $100. I don't really collect paper money, anyone know if it's worth more than $100? It's in pretty good shape. 1950d.jpg

Best bet is to post this over on the Paper Money forum.

My Standard Catalog of US Paper Money (27th ed.) says the following:

    XF: $125
    ChCu: $200
    Gem CU: $300

Check ebay completed listings for starters. I am guessing it may be worth a little over face.

Is it possible to order boxes of dollar coins, preferably the older ones?

    2 boxes today
    Box 1: 2 40%
    Box 2: 1 90% 2 40%

One of the 40% was really nicely toned. I never saw a Kennedy half with a rainbow toning like this. Just wondering if anyone could tell me if its worth any thing more than junk silver?

    Nope.
I found nicer, and I only consider it to be worth melt. Toners only really command decent premiums when they're nicely toned and high grade... no offense, but that one doesn't really look to be either.

I thought it was possible to order boxes of $1,000 in dollars from banks. You'd either get all of one president or a box filled with different kinds of dollars. I'd imagine you'd want to look for proofs, die varieties, Godless Presidential dollars, and NIFC pieces such as the 1981 SBA's and 2002-2008 Sacagaweas in the boxes with mixed dollars.

    I got a Morgan this morning!!!:D

So here is the story. I go to my regular dump bank, and the fill the coin machine full. Teller is busy with customers, and I have to wait about 10 minutes for her to come switch the bag. While she is doing so, I see the morgan on top of the machine (in a reject area). I ask her if I can have it, and she tells me no, those are foreign coins. I show her that the one coin says "United States of America" and is a dollar, can I buy it? She asks her manager & the answer is yes.

1901O, I estimate AU50 (based on online PCGS Photograde) :thumb:

So do SBA and Sacajawea NIFC's carry a premium?

If they do carry a premium, it would be a small one. But searching through mixed rolls of dollars would be the cheapest way to assemble a set of SBA's and Sacagaweas.
