Found a 1943 S steely in a penny roll today. How could the person rolling not catch this one. It's obviously a completely different color from regular pennies. They must have not cared because I also found a 1926, 1936, (2) 1940 S, 1952 S, and 1951...in different rolls of course but from the same batch.

I gotta post this here, cause no one else would believe this. Today I was at my bank, and asked for half dollar coins. Typically they don't have any, but today she said she had two rolls. (They were not machine rolled.) When I got home, I busted them open. To my astonishment, between the two rolls, I found 18 clad kennedys. (All from 1968 except for one from 1969.)
-Mambo!- I've never had such luck before.

Musta been some one had to get some gas with the halves. Lucky you. Gonna half (hehehe) to get a box of those now.
Been doing some cleaning up of some stuff (often called my coin mess all over the house)I had set aside. Found a 2000 wide AM, a 1984 double ear and also a 1946 wheat my gf mom had in her purse. Still have about $10 more of 1984 to 1989 to go through. 2 1/2 boxes going back to the bank after that.
Oh yeah, been finding some weird ones lately with periods. 1980 something d mint with a period after the d (don't think its a bubble, looks like the dots between epluribusunum on the rev). Period under e in america, period after pluribus. All are perfectly round and flat on top. Will have to post some pics when I get a better cam.

Two weeks ago today, 8/10, I went to the bank and as usual bought six rolls of Lincolns to go through when I'm bored. I looked through these a couple days later and found 11 Wheats, earliest 30D and amazingly a 1900 Indian Head in Fine. Not a big buck deal, but I had never seen one in circulation in 52 years. That tied my oldest coin ever found at 108 years as I had found an 1898O Barber Half , two years ago. Only in Vegas!

I go in and ask for customer rolled rolls (the ones customers roll themselves and bring in to exchange for cash). It's all a treasure hunt after that. When I'm done I bring them back for more. I go to the same lady, so she knows me and she makes sure I don't get rolls I've already looked through and turned in.

I went to the bank yesterday and a man was turning in a paper bag of half dollars(126) and another paper bag of dollars(227) it turned out it was his collection. So i asked why he was doing this and he replied "Times are hard an you cant eat coins". Felling sorry for the man i offered him 350$ for it. but he would only accept face so i bought them. almost half the half dollars were Kennedys or franklins the rest were clad and the dollar were mixed ikes, sacagaweas, and susans. i still fell bad for that old guy

    Hi Randygeki,
Seriously, I was thinking about it. Problem is, we are in a very small town and I am likely the one who would get it back in change... just like many of the others that have returned to me like bad pennies.

I work as a manager for a major retailer. One evening I was called to the cash office by a clerk who thought he had some counterfiet quarters. I asked him why he thought they were bogus. He said some kid paid a bill with some quarters he took from a roll. The clerk said he dropped one on the counter and it had a funny ring to it. I quickly stopped what I was doing and ran to the office. I bought the 32 funny quarters from the cash office using 8 good American cash Dollar Bills. Here is a list of some of the "Funny Money" silver American Quarters I was able to remove from society.

Thankfully, it wasn't a 'little old lady' who did it or we'd be off on another tangent.

Will your bank let you order rolls? I can get a box of $500 halves, so I dont see why they wouldnt let me do other denominations.

    Buying Rolls

Two things. Do you think small town banks are a better source of getting old uninspected rolls?
Why do you buy in such large quantities like $500.00-$1500.00. Does that make the odds better for finding uncommon or rare coins?
I will try the small towns first but probably won't go over $100.00 a purchase. At least for now. What condition are the coins you guys/gals listed above? What I'm doing is completing folders and the looking for the best condition coins and replacing the ones I first started with. Does that make any sense to you? zg
