So I found a 1944-P war nickel. And for my birthday I got 2 ASE's, an Ike 1976-S Type 2, and one of these.

    Weekend Excursion

Started out the morning at WF picked up $100 dimes, they shorted me $50 so I had to go back in...clowns.
These were skunk anyway - $1480 searched this week with 1 Roosie at this point.

Picked up $150 more dimes and a Choc Chip cookie from another bank and the tellers were gaga over my kid, shes cute and they always exchange, sell, trade coing when she is with - Scored two Silver Roosie here - of course

Cashed my paycheck and picked up another $100 dimes - skunk
Now I'm up to $1730 searched this week for 3 silver Roosies - better but by no means good $576 searched per silver Roosie

    Tried $100 in Q's - Skunk

Cashed in at TD and got $5.00 halves - skunk -

    Nothing from the reject

I have now pulled 48 Roosie without a Merc or a Silver Canadian

I now have a ton of cash and need to find a bank without 2011 dimes!

sweet nubismatist! the proof cent has to be the rarest find in circulation outside of errors. I have searched probable 30 boxes of cents and have only found 1 ( I Think), I have found more walking liberties than proof cents. I bet merc has found more 99 WAMs than proofs lol. Even though its probably worth about 0.01 its still cool. Also awesome old indian head.

I searched my usual two boxes of halves on Friday, had high hopes because of my recent boxes, but only 1 40% between the two :(
I also started a box of cents, after I unwrapped the 1st roll, I looked at the edge and there was silver??? It was too smooth to be a dime so I thought maybe foreign, but it was a 1964 penny? I looked it up online and I guess people have found them and that it might be in a tin or mercury? coating.

I tested it several different ways when I first got it and wrote down the numbers, but I didn't keep the exact numbers around. Basically, I use a zinc as the compare coin in the machine, then I run the box of P's. When I'm done, I run the Cu P's a second time, and that sorts out any zincs that slipped by. If I use a Cu P as the compare coin, I would have to run the zincs to sort out Cu P's that slip by - and that's maybe 4 times the amount of Cu P's I need to re-run. Doing it that way would almost double the time it takes to run a box through the machine.

After that, I hand sort for wheaties, and I find any straggler zincs. I will usually find 3-4 stragglers, out of 2500 P's sorted. When I first tested the machine, I checked how many Cu P stragglers were in with the zinc, and it was maybe 2 or 3 Cu P's out of 2500. So, with those numbers, I found that running the whole box, and running the Cu P's a second time, I was losing maybe 2 or 3 Cu P's, and only had to sort out 3 or 4 zincs while searching for wheaties. The whole thing takes about 1.5 hours, and another half-hour to roll the zincs up.

Time wise, very efficient. I suppose if I had some kind of hopper with a feed wheel, I could up the quantity per hour, but that would take more time and $$ to set up. At this time, I can't justify shelling out $500 for a Ryedale; maybe if I was doing 50+ boxes/month, it would be worth it, but that would be costing me $300+/month in FV of Cu P's; right now, I could only afford maybe $50-$100/month in FV to invest in Cu P's.

If you ask nicely, I'll post some pics of the holder I made, and how I set up the machine. :D

PS: Did a box of D's last night and found two Roosies. :nice-smile:

Went to Webster and they were slammed, so I figured I'd hit them up later in the week for a box of D's. Then went acrost the street to BoA, got a box of 2011 dimes, I then asked kindly if they would trade it for a different box. They did not have another until Thursday but they had $100 in BWR that were not 2011. Took those and since I did not have my canvas bag on me they hooked me up with another fresh one...nice score and I hope there's some silver in there.

The accuracy sounds pretty good. I may consider this. I watched the youtube vid that the guy listed on the ebay item. Looks pretty cool. Did you build a box similar to his?

So I grossly underestimated the amount of Canadian coins I've hoarded. I counted out a little over $200 worth. I listed them up on the 'bay in 3 separate lots. Hopefully I can get close to CAD face in USD. Then the question will be whether to use those funds towards roll hunting buys or buy a nice coin(s).

    Silver Price

Have you guys seen the spot on silver today? I just checked $40.31!
Makes me feel good about the stash I already have, but not the competition it will likely bring.

I totally agree! My kid has no idea how lucky she is....yet. We go and buy and dump coins on the weekend together and someday she will get Dad's stash. Trying to hit it hard while I can before it all dries up.

I find it acceptable. There's supposed to be some way to "tune" it for better performance; I suspect that might improve the silver accuracy, but I really don't want to mess with it. The instructions it came with were horrible. I would recommend running some tests first if you get one. Run 20 rolls through it using zinc, then copper as the compare coin, sort through the different piles and keep track of the numbers, then run them again. Due to "tuning" at the factory, it might be slightly different for each machine.

It takes me almost the same time, with better accuracy, to go through boxes of D's and N's by hand anyway... The machine won't do H's.

I'll post some pics of my set up soon... :thumb:
