It could be done with a Ryedale for cents. The issue is dumping IMO. If I could pay for $75 in gas with cents, then no problem. As for silver, if you're doing it for a living, then in my part if the world, you're broke (halves). Find a buyer and dump bank and I think you can make as much as you can sort IMO

I just started getting into it this past January and have done very well. I do large volumes of Copper Pennies and Coin Roll Hunting, but still have a full-time night job and am a coach 6 months out of the year.

Well, yeah, copper cents is a different story, you can make good cash doing that, if you can find local connections to refine the copper for ya (illegal, obv), or who will buy it to hold as an investment.

I plan to pick up a Ryedale since I got this new job... might actually use copper cents as a way to pay for a trip to Ireland next summer.

I think in the past year I've been searching, I've picked up around $3k worth in silver.

In contrast, a few months of hardcore cent searching, by hand, yielded $550 in profit. I'm sure copper cents are the way to go.

Did I miss some amazing find?

And yeah, I'm thinking 12 days... 10 in Ireland, 2 in London. Gonna drink beer, tour the land, be merry, drink lots of whiskey, have myself a good time. How much cash did your trip cost you, total?

I've actually done way better with the silver, but the first two weeks I hit a few bags that were absolutely ridiculous. Since then, it's been pretty even. I do work very hard at CRHing. I have traveled 4-5 hours away(just to CRH) and hit big cities as well as small rural towns.

It's not only a side hobby for me but also supplemental income. I can't dedicate that kind of time to the cause unfortunately. I search about $150 in cents a week, and that's pretty exhausting in itself. The rewards are phenomenal though.

If you're looking at the Ryedales, you might be interested in these:

I got one; works great for P's! I can put a whole box of P's through it in just over an hour, by hand - but then I gotta roll them. ugh Car died shortly after I got it, so I have to limit the P sorting, due to dumping difficulties.

    I tested it with silver D's and Q's - don't bother.

No pennies are not the way to go unless you have nothing else to do in life but sit and sort. You can dump $1K in dimes on the table and tell in 15 minutes how much silver you have. But dump $200 in cents out on a table and it will take you several hours just see how many wheaties you have, much less any worthwhile dates. I have grandkids I'd rather spend time fishing with.

You clearly don't know why a Ryedale is, boss.

Also, I can bang out a bag of cents ($50 face) in under an hour now. Doesn't take as long as some people would think, and that's with checking for several important varieties.

If you just want to pull just the Copper Cents, the Ryedale machine will do 18,000 pennies per hour. Obviously, if you are pulling Wheats it will take longer.

The copper cents, unless they are in amazing condition, have a particular "look" to them and I have an easy time finding them sometimes. I like doing the cents. I need to find some silver!

Geeze, dude. I was thinking I'd probably drop like $2.5k. Airfare is only $840 or so roundtrip.

EDIT: Forgot to add, one of the '63 BU Nickels I pulled today is FS! Probably around an MS64... that's an $80 coin in a PCGS holder. :D
