    Got a box of halves today that were largely marked. Purple Sharpie dot over the B in Liberty, I'd say it was about 90% of them. I did manage one 40%er.
    Do any of you guys mark your coins? I personally hate it. I mean, there were about 10 or so halves that were solid BUs, except they had a goddamn purple dot on them. I know they're not valuable, but they would have been album fillers for somebody. I imagine the dudes marking coins are purely looking for silver, and don't care about numismatics.

    Another question, anybody ever find a 40% 1976 half? I think that'd be a cool find. Just pulled my first '87 the other day.

    OK friends, now I have had a few people look at my pictures and several look at the actual coin with a magnifying glass so I believe my eyes. Today I went to an estate sale...

    I picked up 13 Mercury Dimes I needed for my book including the two above...The two above are 1916S and 1916D
    :hail:

    Then I picked up an Indian Head Cent with Flying Eagle Cents 1857-1909 album. The book has 56/58 only missing the 1909S and the 1877.

    We are stoked!!!!!!!!!!

    This is almost unbelievable but I gain nothing by making it up....

    Um, for the 1916D Merc....I paid $2.65.
    :rolleyes:

    And for the Album which after looking up values for similar coins in completed auctions on E-Bay which appears to have a value $1,000-$1100....I paid $20. There are 28 coins in there worth over $20 each and some as much as $90.

    I did find a 76 about a year ago roll searching and one 87 a few months ago. Today I found 1 40% half in $20 worth and 1 64 dime out of four cwr's.

    Inspired by my finds yesterday, my family wants to go on a drive into the small towns of the countryside so surely we can't have any more luck but we are off soon. I will let you know if we find anythig and I will try to post some pics this evening. I think I had a big smile on my face all night cuz it is still there hahaha.

    Pure dumb luck,

    Erin

    Friday Report

    BWR H's: 50 rolls -> 7 x NIFC
    Box 1: 7 x NIFC
    BWR N's: 50 rolls -> 2 x war

    * Is it a skunk if there's no silver in the box? Discuss... :devil:

    Overall, just a horrible week. My favorite bank did not order my regular boxes last week; I only had one box of H's to play with and I was able to get a box of N's to try out - not too bad. Hopefully, my standing order (2 boxes H's, 1 box D's) will been in today. I'll try to get some more N's too. I really need to up my P sorting!

    Found out that our local credit union has a coin machine! Free for members - only $10 to join, no minimum deposit. I have to research further - I read on their website that as of 11/2010, the customer limit was $1000/year (7% fee for non-customers). However, I inquired with one of the account specialists and he told me that there was no limit. Need to get clarification...

    Still no car; went to check out some yesterday. Looking at the 2011 Ford Fiesta... Any comments on the Fiesta? Any other suggestions?

    Everyone have a great weekend!!

    UPDATE: Confirmed that credit union free coin counter is limited to $1000/year. :(

    In my opinion...no silver = skunk. If I found a 1982 no P dime and no silver I might reconsider.

    For dimes & Quarters? Yes. Halves, Nickels, no.

    110$ in dimes - skunk.

    I was thinking that the one on the left looked like "that" D. :)

    Remember that the 1916-D is one of the most faked coins around -- the quote I remember is something to the effect that there were 264,000 minted, and 500,000+ currently in collections. But you've got to figure that some of those in collections, especially from before the advent of slabs, will probably continue to fall into the hands of clueless heirs or executors.

    Chance ("luck") favors the prepared mind. Congratulations on your preparation!
