So, I was able to hit a total of 8 banks today when out and about with the family. We went to Salisbury, MD to check out a Pawn Shop. That was a complete rip-off. Guy wanted $160 for a roll of Silver Dimes, $10 per Silver Quarter, and was selling Clad Ikes for $5 each! I couldn't believe it.

Now back to the CRH...I got $170 in Customer Rolled Halves and about another $23 in loose halves.

I found a 1968 and a 1969 Kennedy. So, that (believe it or not) was my best day road tripping since my score of 8 in one day about 4-5 weeks ago.

It's actually more than I thought I'd score while on vacation. So, all in all....it's been a good week! Also, got some boogie boarding and body surfing in with the kids this afternoon!

Hope everyone had a good 4th!

The only 2011's that I have found so far are some ATB quarters, mostly gettysburg, and 1 dime that was in a mixed roll.

For a while, I was getting 2011 cents like crazy. I stopped ordering from some banks for a bit, because of that. 4 weeks in a row with 2011 coinage is a bummer, it sucks breaking open rolls without looking through them, and just throwing them in the bin. But it seems to have slowed down recently, and gone back to circulated stuff, at least in MI.

Not sure as I never do dimes, but I think I had beginner's luck today. One of my tellers called and said they had a customer turn in about 200 rolls of dimes that looked like older wrappers today. I have been on vacation and was in my second week of taking a month off from this hobby to celebrate my 2 year anniversary. The most I normally ever get is 5 rolls of dimes when I am out half searching. Anyway, since she took the time to call me about it, I did not want to tell her no thank you so I headed out to pick them up. Man, dimes are a lot slower than halves! Anyway, just finished and ended up with 54 Roosies. I have only done a full box of dimes once over a year ago, but this is the equivalent of approximately 4 boxes. I am guessing this is above average??

Either way: I will gladly take 54 silver dimes. BTW this is the same bank that she saved the 40 rolls of old pennies for me recently including 10 rolls of pure wheats. Now I just have to figure out what to get her for her birthday hahaha.

Oh and I got very lucky and picked up a 1916 Walker today (hole filler) at a shop that just opened for $14. As he gave it to me he said this better not be a $75 dollar coin I am giving. Well...it is not worth $75 but....more than $14!:p

I hit the 2011 streak at one point as well, this too shall pass.

3 dimes in a box, nothing in 5 rolls of nickels, and two drummers in 2 rolls of quarters.

Yep, got a box of solid 2011 dimes and found a bunch of 2011 nickels lately as well.

I just called Dunbar Armored here in Baltimore who supply M&T Bank and others and asked them about all the 2011 P dimes that are flooding the banks. They said they are not receiving anymore of them so I am hoping it should dry out a bit as it has been discouraging lately searching. Hopefully this motivates some to keep looking. I had 7 boxes of dimes in a row that were all brand new.

    All,

Thanks for all of the information provided on your findings of 2011 coin. By the sounds of it, the country is saturated with the new coin and perhaps with a little luck we will all be getting back to our well liked circulated coinage very shortly. As always I'm looking forward to lunch and to see what I can dump and pick-up to search!

    Lunch Break

Bank 1 -I had $120 in rolled dimes I asked to trade for $100 in Q's and $20 in Nickels.
The Q's were skunk of course, have not checked the nickels yet. They also had $9.00 in loose halves, which were skunk and $6 IKES, no silver, no Type II's

Bank 2 - I took the $100 in skunk Q's from Bank 1 and traded them for $100 dimes, looked through all the CWR rolls and found one Roosie so far.

Today on my roll buying I picked up 8 unopened 1971-D bank wrapped rolls of pennies, should I open these or keep them the way they are?

    Inquisitive,

Did they contain tons of 2011? Just wondering. I was hating CWR dimes a couple weeks ago but since all I was getting was BWR 2011 I have been asking for CWR. The CWR have been pretty nice to me this week anyway.

So I hit up one bank, and the teller remembered me from another branch, and she had saved me a couple 2 dollar bills, and an Eisenhower dollar.

I really don't care about those, but I bought them to be polite, and I asked about halves, and got a nice 1969.

Out of the 50 bucks in dimes I bought I got a nice 1947-s.

I finally hit a picking teller though at a local branch, and she is the manager, so I know to not bother unless I am buying rolls.

I saw an Eisenhower in her tray, and though I don't care about them, I figured I would take it off her hands and she said "nope. Haven't bought it for myself yet. That was when I noticed a bunch of silver quarters at the bottom of the stack in her tray.

I'd get that banks policy on tellers and buying change in their trays... might be able to stick it to her.
