Might find a clipped planchet or a doublestruck coin... you can find some cool errors in those mint rolls.

1 roll ended up being an andrew jackson, the other 3 were abe lincolns. I going to hang on to 1 of each and spend the other 2 rolls

By a shred of luck, a teller at one of the banks I frequent showed me a mint roll of 2003-P Sacs that someone deposited and I bought it. I ended spending the coins, because the roll was partially ripped, but I kept one in a mylar flip.

So it was Wells Fargo, eh? I hate it when you ask and a teller for halves and they say "no" before checking or asking anyone else. I've never done what you've done though.....wow.

Oh no - I'll be in Florida shortly and planned on hitting some banks on Saturday on my drive between cities. I know some really out of the way banks in tiny towns that aren't traveled often probably but man i hope they aren't closed on Saturdays.

I've never pushed the issue either but there are a few tellers who have lied to me at branches that I don't order or dump from and I've thought about pushing it. It wouldn't be so bad if you couldn't see them right in front of you.

I am in FL, and most banks are closed on Saturdays. The bad thing is this: The few that ARE OPEN on Saturday, DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE VAULT therefore, cannot get boxes for you, EVEN if you ordered them the week before.....sigh...

got $250 in dimes, every roll was a bust except one BWR, which had a 64 & 2x48.

What is up with that?

Probably came from another box that was heavy in silver? I'd go back and get more.

They didn't have any more; I got the entire rest of the box (about 25 rolls, and not a single other one had anything).

Peculiar, but I've had similar things happen to me.

Went to a bank last week, and the teller told me he searches boxes of halves. He also said he likes it when "old people" come in to cash in because they need money, and they tend to have silver and not know it. Scum bag. I found my dump bank!

If I was a teller and I had old people cashing in silver, I'd offer them like, 10x face for it, minimum. Just hand them my business card with my cell on the back.

Out of the $150 in CWR halves (that had already been searched according to the teller) I found 2 40% halves. Not too bad, but I still wish I could have gotten those bills!

Can you walk me through exactly why he's more of a "scum bag" than anyone else who searches change? Sounds to me like he's found a very smart career/hobby combination.

I'm guessing that that would violate several bank policies, and would probably spook the old folks as well. They got the coins for face value fifty years ago, and they're expecting to deposit them at face value. Why is this guy trying to set up some kind of shady deal outside the bank, instead of just accepting the coins? Help! Police!

Searching change is one thing; knowingly taking advantage of the elderly, actually anyone in that situation, merits the label.

    I absolutely concur.

Got a YT video for you guys. Went to my favorite branch today and they had 4 rolls of halves... figured I'd let you share in the excitement of opening the rolls. The vid should be up in 10-15 minutes. :)
