Whoops! I forgot about the 40%'ers! :dismay: I bought a few 90% coins recently so that's all that was on the mind at the time.

Lucky for me I don't roll search yet, and you guys made me remember the 40%'ers before I do that :D

You still have lots of time to get out... once you've been doing it for a year or so like me, then you know you're really crazy... or an addict. Take your pick.

Hold on, let me get this needle outta my arm.

Yes, I am very new (what 2 weeks now) to this, and I can see its very addicting. Every great find is another hit of the "drug" then we just GOTTA HAVE IT!! MORE!!! CAN'T WAIT!! MORE!! ... :)

As a side note: I find that I used to stay at work during my lunch hour, but now I pre-plan my weekly "route". See, I usually just turn my dump coins to a coin machine (no fee at some of my banks) then rush the cash out for rolls! All of that in an hour!

Yesterday I went back to a bank to buy the box of halves that they had told me on Friday they had. I was a little skeptical that it would be someone's dump box, instead when I went in to buy it they said that someone else ordered it and they couldn't sell it to me. I had picked up a mint roll of sacageweas on Friday from there so I decided to see if they had any more, I got 8 rolls of dollars and they were all 2000 sacagawea mint rolls, and it seemed like they had even more. Ill try and sell them on eBay, if I can't I guess I'll just turn them back in. Is there anything to look for in them, like errors? Would dealers buy them for more than face?

If they're mint rolls, I wouldn't break them open. The mint sells them for a premium, so people will buy them for a premium.

I had my best 2 box find in some time - a total of 5 40%ers. So many skunks that finding 5 in one box is exciting now

If they are mint rolls how would the Cheerios dollars get into them if they were put in Cheerios boxes?

Speculation runs rampant that some were in mint rolls. Not many, some. Not all the Cheerio's dollars, by the way, are the Cheerio's variety. It's confusing stuff.

    Sorry Moonshine..

Missed the word 'MINT' on the above statement by Vick. I read it as "Picked up a roll of Sacas.."

Was the teller just saving the silver and gave it to you? How did this work?

    Anyway, awesome score!!!

    The lost week

So, I had posted that I was traveling and gonna stop in some small town banks. I was full of anticipation......

Since my last report, I stopped at small town bank after small town bank. Most said something to the effect of "We were cleaned out last week," or "yesterday." I did manage to find about 62 bucks of halves in CWR, BWR and loose. Skunk. On Friday, I picked up two boxes of halves back in town. Skunk. I then went north on Saturday and visited a few more small town banks. Skunk.

I was skunked for the week. No silver at all. I was so sure I would get some nice finds in the small towns.

With silver as high as it is, I really believe that it is going to get harder and harder to find it.......it seems like everyone is searching down here in our neck of the woods.

    :(

    The lost week.....

It's strange, my finds in halves have gotten better and dimes are swirling the toilet bowl.

I credit it to branching out and looking around in more rural areas.

I'm having the better luck with dimes and absolutely NOTHING with halves. I'm thinking about hitting every bank in the area on the way home from dumping my latest dime box. There are 6 banks clustered at one intersection near my house. I'm hitting ALL of them tomorrow morning.

I think that is messed up. Unless the customer pre-paid, I don't think they should do that. I have a bank in my area willing to order boxes, and let me take as I need (I only go thru $100 per day due to coin counting machine fees) and they didn't have a problem with that.

The only risk I have is someone coming in after me and taking rolls from that new box. I guess each bank is different depending on circumstances.
