I took them a box of donuts last week. I guess that paid off, huh?

Anyone taking their silver findings in their searches and buying MS or PR graded coins?

    Just curious..

I guess so!! Whatever you do, don't hit them up with the black jelly beans (although I love them, send them to me!) Most folks don't like those..

So today I went through a box of nickels and found most all of the 40's, minus silver, and a dateless buffalo nickel.

Thats a good idea for a collector. I haven't done that, I just started collecting, verrrrrry green right now :)... I do enjoy it though.

I know others here will disagree, but newer brinks boxes (yellow ink on the square box with brown inked wrappers) are bad news when I search them.

3 rolls of dimes I found in the safe in Customer Service at my work:

    1 1964 Roosevelt.

Swapped it with a dime of my own, and walked away nonchalantly.

So, I got lucky today: My bank was open on Saturday (a.m. only) and I went to a teller who's account was "locked out" and couldn't do any complicated account related things. Perfect for me, she had an un-opened box of dimes w/ clear covers on them. I asked if I could look at each roll (rather fast) and pick. She said YES!! I got 4 silver Roosie's from it!!

Then, just dumb luck again, at my local grocery store, I asked if they had dimes and/or quarters w/ clears on them as well. They did and they let me look thru them also! I found a roll of quarters (out of 2 rolls total there) that had a '64 in it!! What luck I have, and I am not obligated to buy tons of coinage :)....maybe this is good advice to other newbies to roll searching that do not have a lot of $ to spit out on boxes! Worked for me today, thats for sure!

    skunked today -

1 box of nickels - nothing
2 boxes of cents - only 19 wheats

I've been finding less and less wheat cents when searching boxes lately. I used to average about 30 per box and my last dozen boxes haven't gotten anywhere close to that.

30 is an insane average. I was averaging 8-12, then it jumped to like, 20-25 out of nowhere, but now it's moved back down, box I did today only had about 15.

I was also skunked on a box of dimes. Only the second time I've ever had two blanks in a row with dimes.

yeah, I started searching cents about a year and a half ago when halves really started drying up for me. I usually get about a box per week, and I always kinda took it for granted that wheats were out there like crazy. This whole year I've been in that 8-12 range that you're talking about. I guess I just had a good streak there for a while.

I got 2 rolls of wheat cents online and I found an 1879 Indian Head (in about G4 or G6). And was able to fill some holes in my album with the rest.
