Wow Erin, that is quite a haul. I started a month before Erin, and we live a few miles apart and I'm at 1725 silver halves. He blows me away with his finds when you compare us. Walkers I have 15, Franklins I have 45 or so.....look at his numbers. Many are at the same banks.

Save some for me buddy!! :) But I'm glad you got them vs. some of the other guys around here who do this.

    CONGRATS!

I found another 11 CWR from 2 different banks today......Skunk. That is 39 skunk CWRs in a row....those are usually profitable.

    I did two boxes today.

    Box 1: 1 40%er
    Box 2: 5 40%ers and 1 1943 Walker :D

Oh, I should also note that in those 3 halves I was able to find yesterday the teller thumbed through them all before handing them to me! Like he was either checking dates, or seeing what kind of half dollar it was. I'm really starting to think that we are going to be getting cut off at the pass here.

LOL. Erin, I took a haitus from 1972 until 2010. Man, I could have completed all my sets over those years. Why quit ? Time, money, family, work......all those reasons. I came back because I became disabled a while back and wanted to dispose of my collectibles while I could make the decisions. well, that got me back into it. BIG TIME ! I spend about 6 hours or more each day working my collection, sorting, mounting and roll searching. I sure wish I would have completed my Washington collection. I have the key, but didn't bother with the common ones. Now they are expensive ! Never did get my 16D Merc. lol But, honestly, that goes with everything. Shoulda, coulda, etc. Points is girl, we're back !

Box of dimes, pulled 4 silvers... 3 were in one roll smack-dab in the middle of the box. One was a '39. :)

What nickels do you guys keep besides the war nickels? I've just been holding on to any nickels <1960

I switched to 55 and earlier recently, I have too many of the later 50's piling up.

One time, I walked into a bank, asked if they had halves. They only had one half. It was a Franklin.

Moral of the story? Take everything you can get, every time.

I've heard that it's worth holding on to nickels 1961 (or 1962 maybe?) and earlier because the second Whitman Jefferson nickel folder starts at 1962. That means that collectors are pulling nickels from that date and before to fill their set of circulation nickels for their first Jefferson Whitman folder.
But, personally, I just save 1959 and earlier.

I think the comment was more about the guy being disappointed about being skunked on three coins. It's not many coins to say "Skunked. Dang." about.

Anytime they have anything, I'm disappointed when it isn't silver. Keeps things exciting.

I keep everything 1939 and before, plus war nickels, of course.

With those singles, I look at them and return on the spot.

I've been keeping anything below 50 million mint for Nickels, the exception being any 1939 philadelphia. I mean it's a 1930s coin, just seems so ancient to me....

I even went to a different town with tons of banks, literally every bank said "Oh were sorry, someone JUST was here and picked them up, thats how I know there are none in the trays". It kind of frustrates me haha.
