1 1969-d! The first silver I pulled in a while. I mentioned something about looking for silver and she said that wasn't very likely because they stopped making them in 1964. I told her about the 40%ers and she said "Then you probably want this" and handed it to me. was going to offer $3 and she said to just exchange one from the roll. Nice to have a nice person still out there, and now I have 2 tellers looking for silver for me!

 

Well my that silver vein I tapped the previous 4 plus weeks has come to a slight hult tonight. After my first 4 of 10 boxes I have only pulled 5 40%ers.....But in no way am I complaining just keeping everyone in the loop.....Way to go bob on your box though:thumb:

 

Picked up a $200 bag of nickels today. Just got done with the first $50 and found my first War Nickel a 1942-S actually in very good condition. Cant wait to go through the next $150 worth. Will let you know how I turn out!

 

Bought 6 rolls of unc nickels(62,63,64 P&D) in tubes for 50c over face per tube. Inside 1 of the rolls were 2 unc 1962 dimes!

 

I have only searched 300-400 dollars worth of quarters and found 1-1957. My father in-law has coin operated washer and dryer in his apt. building. He has searched $3000.00 worth of quarters out of them and has only found 3 silver! 1 every $1000 is about right

 

Did another box today and got skunked. However, I found 95 bucks of halves at one bank, and 131 at another and these yielded 5 40%ers.

I also picked up 10 Ikes.

I opened 4 rolls of cents and found 2 wheaties (50s).

 

Did 2 boxes of cents today.

Only 20 total wheats between the 2. Got a 1919-S for my book. And one I can't Identify yet, but it is pre-1940. Also got about a whole roll of '74 D uncirculated Pennies mixed in there someone must have dumped. One more thing did find a '77 with the state of Nebraska on it and the initials 'NE' to the right of Linocln's head. So now I have 2 of these pennies with a state on thme, the other is the shape of Alabama and "AL" inside it.

And I got a good teller who is now holding boxes of pennies for me. Soon I will try and get halves. He seems like a cool kid.

 

Went through 20 rolls of nickles tonight and I got 1-1953 s ,1-1931 and 5 other pre 1960's

 

2 CWR and 12.00 in loose halves. Nothing. Also picked up 25.00 worth of CWR cents from a bank in a very shady neighborhood. I've got a feeling there is something interesting in there....I'll let you know.

 

Could any one tell me what denomniations boxes come in and how to go about asking for them?

 

Swiker - I sort nickels ($100 boxes) and cents ($25.00 boxes). Just go to your bank and ask for them. They may look at you funny, but just say your are a coin collector. Most tellers are happy to get rid of their rolled change. If they don't have anything ask if they will order a couple of boxes for you. Its usually no problem. Just make sure you pick them up on time and that you don't dump the coins back to the same bank. Always be nice...even if they aren't. And if they aren't....find a new bank.

Halves come in $500 boxes, but I don't search them. Too many people on this site are playing that game!

Did a box of halves last night, nothing worth hanging onto there. Also a bag of Ikes, definitely more exciting. Found a '21 Morgan, 1971s (40% silver) and a 1973. Have found proofs and other silver ike's before but this was a first time for a morgan..

 

Nice, I've yet to find a bank that can order me bags of ikes.

 

Yeah haven't really figured it out yet..though I've been able to get them from 2 different bofa branches. It seems they can be ordered but many tellers are not aware of that....or don't want to try.

I found this coin in a roll from the bank a few months ago. It is a 1983 DDR lincoln cent. It recently found a new home at the last coin show I attended. My best find to date. I hated to part with it but....Sold!! I used the proceeds to buy a nice Bust half.

 

This is kind of a newb question but what half dollars are NIFC?
