  1. Hi herm, welcome to the site! "NIFC" stands for "Not Intended For Circulation". Certain coins were made for purposes other than being used by citizens.

Went through about $1500.00 in boxes and NOTTA Silver, then I did about $1000.00 in bags and hit the following:

    (8)90%(1-56 Canadian)
    (50)40%

    Also hit (6)NIFC and (1)Proof

Bank Rolls and Boxes(they are kinda sucking-marks all over the coins) are not nearly as good as bags.

Grabbed a 1970 S cent, cleaned. Got me wondering, looked like a possible small date, so I sent a pic to my expert friend. No joy on that one, just another large date. Guess there are some dies that are very close to the small date ones ? Hard for me to tell and I use a proof for comparison.

I finally had to post today. I've been lurking for over a month, and I've finally established some pickup routines with local banks. By far, Bank of America has been my best buy bank. I'm thinking it's because they're getting my halves directly from the Fed. I've got accounts with two other banks, but I'm finding that one does a ton of casino business, and they pick all the silver out. The vault teller at the other bank is a collector too, so they're now my dumps. I got a surprise box from BoA last week, and the first roll out had 3 90%ers. Total for the box was 6 90%ers, 50 40%ers, a 1951 Mexican 1 Peso coin, and a 1971 proof. I hit a few banks today and pulled a 1965 from a CRW. Another big hit today was a stop at a Coinstar machine. I pulled 3 1968 S cents out of it.

Merc, out of curiousity, how many boxes do you go through in a week? It seems like you do several each of dimes, cents and halves.....

    Too many. Haha.

Nah, I'd estimate; 3-5 boxes of cents (High right now cause everything else sucks!), 3-4 boxes of nickels (I'm laying low on these for a bit right now, so...), 3-5 boxes of dimes, sometimes more (Also letting these chill for now), maybe a few rolls of quarters here and there, then usually 2-6 boxes of halves, depending on how many I can get.

I have a lot of time on my hands now that my hours at work got dropped a bit... post-holiday slowdown. Hopefully I find a good FT job somewhere soon, no more of this 30 hours a week crap. Once that happens, you'll see my numbers drop precipitously.

WoW ! I don't even have a job, and searching for errors and varieties, I can only do a few hundred coins a day. Man, you must have a very good method. I need to do like a triple sort.

I don't check for errors and varieties much, only the stuff thats obvious, like WAM's and CAM's, major doubled dies, etc.

I'm having my bag supply bank pull cents, nickels, dimes and halves for me today.

Bags come from the coin machines either in the lobby of the bank(s) or in the back. Some banks will sell you the bags when they're full. Merc and other have had great luck in their area getting the bank to sell them the bags.

A day after the skunked search in $30 CWR in halves, I was consoled by a 1966 from a teller's tray today.

If I go more than 36 hours, I get the shakes.

It ended up being something like, $316 in dimes, $120 in nickels, and $13 in cents. She had a spare bag of cents, so I got that. No halves, unfortunately.

So went to a few banks today looking for half dollars. all the banks had half dollars but not many a roll here and there but one bank had $7.50 in loose halves so I grabbed them and $4.00 out of it were 40% halves! Best find for me in a while. Also at another bank I got 4 Bank wrapped rolls but someone sliced out the side a little so you can see all the halves in the roll without it being open. Has anyone ever seen that before?
