wow, you're really into the roll searching. I don't have any date sets or proof collections or types of collections like that, pfc sets or otherwise because I like roll searching pennies and sorting the coppers from the zincs and I keep the coppers for the bullion value, but it's still awesome to find a 1918-s wheat pennies in a BWR or CWR from the bank because I can build a circulation roll of wheat pennies and if the 1918-s wheat penny is in the roll and I list precisely which coin and date is in the roll I sell on ebay. I take the time to make this list everytime I sell a roll of coins on ebay so I can maximize the final bid because people will buy a full roll of coins if they are looking for a single date or a couple of dates if the exact dates are in the listing.

Got my first box of halves - dang that sucker is heavy!
The first $200 have been skunky - not a single proof and nothing before 1971.

I did run into something odd though - are there recut date varieties from '71? Some of the 1's seem to be a bit odd.

I just got through 2 boxes. 1st had 3 90% and 8 40%. 2nd had 4 90% and 10 40%. Also found a Bicentennial Proof. Wierd thing was 849 of the 2000 halves were Bicentennial!! Anybody find crazy amounts of bicentennials in boxes before?

I'm working my way through a box right now as well. Personally I keep anything 1960 and earlier. I'm simply going to store them some place for the grandkids (I'm 26 now.) I figure they're already at least 51 years old, and might be worth a little more when I'm about to kick the bucket. Saw a few dd's in the redbook, but nothing really after 1960. Good luck!

Edit: That was for the nickels. For the quarters obviously anything 1964 and earlier, and also any Wisconsin quarters should be checked for the high and low leaf variety.

So I don't usually do this, but I went to the bank at college today to do some business and there were 3 Ike's in a drive thru teller's till, so I asked for them and halves. I walked with $30 worth of CWR. I opened them on my walk back to my apartment and found 1 64 and 1 roll was all mixed date MS coins and proofs! They all look sooooo great. practically flawless! I will post an update to this once I look more thoroughly. The Ike's were 1971 and 2 bicentennials. My best find in a while!

Check the '71's for the Friendly Eagle... I'm pretty sure that's the year they were put out.

Halfway done a box of cents... much nicer than the last box... one BU '62-D, bunch of common wheaties, and another 1909 VDB... jeeze, I'm hogging all of 'em left in circulation lol.

Now if only I could find one with an S under the 1909...

I'd be content with a plain 1909. 1918 is the oldest I've found, lol

I now hate you with the fury of a thousand suns... lol. I started off with cents, but moved to nickels. The box I'm on now is pretty good, but as far as cents go I've still got one box and half a bag to go through.

Edit: and as far as my best goes I did pull a 1903 IH from a box. So looks like I'm still on top for the oldest.

    Results from today;
1 box of nickels, 3 war nickels, and about 25 before 1960 that i held on to.
100 quarters, 1 Guam which filled a whole in my book.

    So out of $30 CWR:
    1-1964
    2-2000S
    2-2001S
    2-2002S
    2-2003S
    1 99D, 2000 2-P 1-D, 2001 2-P 2-D, 2002 1-P 2-D, and a 2003 D

Guess someone turned in a collection of sorts? All of the 99-2003 look AU almost flawless...I'm debating keeping them all

slamster- that's a heck of a lot of proofs from $30 in halves! I keep all proofs that I find. You just got something for $.50 that someone else paid a heck of a lot more than $.50 for. I would hold on to them, but that's just me. Congrats!

Yea, definitely keeping the proofs, decided to keep the rest of the roll too. The 90% basically paid for the roll I'm keeping even though silver is down, eh?
