Thanks for putting together your yearly totals!

really interesting to see how silver matches up in each denomination. I'm not surprised silver quarters were 1 every $930 (essentially 1/3,720)

Just dropped by a bank on my lunch. $27 in halves, 3 40%'s, including a pair of rainbow '67's! They're so pretty!

My 2010 Totals (Paltry compared to Merc Crazy's! Freaking Awesome!)

    Pennies:
    Searched: ($1,247), 124,700
Wheats: 467, Oldest (and most valuable) was only a 1916-D :(
Other notables: Minor cuds, minor die breaks, 2000 WAM x2, 1998 WAM

    Nickels:
    Searched: ($800), 16,000
    12 Silvers and 2 Buffaloes

    Halves
    Searched: ($190), 380
    3 40%-ers

I only dabbled in cents, nickels, and halves this year, and from what you can probably see cents were my main effort. I've only recently started nickels and halves, and from my results so far I'm going to start doing these more often in 2010. Dimes appear to be a good mode too, so I guess I'll be just another silver bug in '11 :)

You're new, give it time. I only got into the game around September as a byproduct of my job... I just then threw myself at it for a solid two months straight... my main objective was to get some silver every day.

But I burned out fast, too, so...

Finally, broke the shutout streak...barely but I will take it. After 16 fulls boxes and 5 rolls, I found a 1964 half!!!!! From the edge it did not look silver as it was dirty on the edge so I am sure it was just overlooked. Boxes are just dead on halves and I will be all but shutting down now as I just had to stay with it to break the streak lol.

Also, are you guys watching CNN about the Chase bank that has the robbers held up with a couple of hostages right now? That is the bank I was ordering from until about 6 months ago when I cut back. yikes!

Wow, Erin, that sucks. You should get them a box of donuts when they reopen.

Side note, anybody here ever get caught in a stickup? I've been in banks a lot, so I could see it happening to me.

Congrats on breaking your streak, btw.

$400 in halves today (plus maybe $8 in trays) got 2- 1964's.

also, $240 in Quarters- Nothing except a new territory quarter I didn't have... also pulled 7 Bicentennials. Worth .25 I know, but I've liked them since I was a kid.

Gypsy, Merc...Great Totals!! Especially on the Mercs (still have never found one) and your nickel finds Merc....very impressive. I have my totals from when I started in June 2009, but don't have a total for 2010.

However, I did end 2010 with a good note:

    I did a box today, 5 90%ers and 2 40%ers:

    2 1968
    1 1964
    1 1952 Frankie
    1 1961 Frankie
    1 2007 S Silver Proof WOW
    1 2008 S Silver Proof WOW
    1 2001 S Clad Proof

I'll have to get pics of the silver proofs....the edges on those when I open the roll about knocked me off my chair they stuck out so much. What is nice about those finds is that the 2007 S fills a hole in my Kennedy Proof from circulation collection. I am now only missing 3....1995, 1999, and 2010. Anyway, it was a fun box....happy new year everyone.

I never considered keeping track of my finds, but since I went bank hopping (and hopping and hopping) today. My main search was for halves. It was a bust. The only bank that had any ($40) was a bust, but I figured it would be. She was gone a LONG time in the vault, and one of the wrappers was slightly torn. Personally, I think she was gone long enough to check them, but it was just a feeling I got.

So, not to make eight hours of searching banks in two counties a total bust, I got some other coinage. The only problem is that with other coins, I do not know what I am looking for. I am researching that now. I seperated all my coins by denomination then by decade. I seperated the statehood and territory quarters, too.

What did I learn? Hm. Well, for pennies, three things come immediately to mind: Pennies are filthy! I have about five I have NO idea what the dates are because of something obscuring the face. People hide foreign coins in pennies. I have not seen foreign coins in any other roll, but quite a few in the pennies. Canadian. The third thing? For me, I did not find them as fun as halves. Maybe because halves are easier to see in many ways, silver edge, coin is bigger, so date is easier to read, and really, I find the halves alot prettier.

I have some of my nickels sorted, and I have the pre 1970 here:
    1941x1 1948x2
    1952x1 1956x1 1959x2
    1961x1 1962x7 1964x10 1965x2 1967x1 1968x1 1969x3

    My pre 1970 dimes:
    1965x4 1966x6 1967x8 1968x4 1969x3

    My pre 1970 quarters:
    1965x19 1966x5 1967x16 1968x5 1969x4

Then there are my post 1960's coins. I have them seperated by decade, but not logged them as of yet. Maybe I will and keep a year's tally.

So, to all you who do more dealings with coins other than halves, how did I do?

Happy 2011. Let's hope we all score 'the one' at least once.

Of the last $35 of cents I searched, 523 were copper coins. Also 2 dimes were in the rolls. No major errors, varieties or key dates. Was able to upgrade a couple of coins in my Memorial set. Hoping to pick up 5 boxes on Monday, but likely will have to settle for quarters and dimes. The banks that will sell me cents only want to give me about $50 at one time. None of the local banks stock halves it seems ?

Wish everyone good luck in the coming year and thank you for sharing your experiences with me,

OK. to give totals like some of the others. These are all from June 2009, so they are a year and a half totals....not just 2010.

    Cents:
I didn't keep totals. I found $16 of wheaties all at once from the bank, then, through searching found other wheaties, copper, a 1998 WAM, and other low level goodies

    Nickels:
Searched: approximately 6 boxes (approximately $600)
    Found: 4 silver, 2 buffalo

    Dimes:
searched: 11 boxes, 8 bags, plus many single rolls (more than $10,750)
    Found: 52 silver Roosies

    Halves:
searched: 240 boxes, plus $11,270 in loose/CWR/partial boxes (total of $131,270)
Found: 11 Walkers, 28 Franklins, 218 1964 Kennedys, 2 90% silver Kennedy proofs, 963 40% silver Kennedys (21.19% of finds are 90%ers), about a dozen 1974 D DDO, 10 or so 1982/3 no FG errors, about 75 proofs, and a couple of cool struck thru errors.

I owe a lot to this thread!!!! I never would have done this before reading about it here. :)

Just finished the last 10 rolls in a box of nickels. ZERO war nix. 11 pre-1960. 7 .99% Canadian. First box ever without finding a War Nix.

Did 20 rolls of cents. 4 wheats. Oldest 1919..but pretty beat up. I would guess about 30% copper. I've found that I get more copper from CWR.

    Happy New Year....

Never been in a stick up, but my winter coat is a black trench coat... going in a bank to get rolls with a black trench coat and empty bag is a very delicate procedure. You have to be ALL Smiles because you can tell they're thinking, "JESUS! IT'S HAPPENING!" with a finger hovering over the button, lol. This only happens at banks I don't frequent.
